- Past HeavenΒ byΒ Laura Ward <— Michelle found us this new release (bargain priced!). “Another one I saw that looks good is Past Heaven by Laura Ward.” OH YES!!! The woman grieving the loss of her husband, and the actor playing her husband in the movie… “She is now forced to pick up the shattered pieces of her life as she faces the daunting task of raising three young children alone…” and then… “As Reynolds takes on the challenge of this new project, his world collides with that of Liz. They never expected their professional relationship to evolve into friendship, or love, but thatβs exactly what happens.”
- The ProcedureΒ by Tabitha Vargo <— This looks interesting, was recently released and is bargain priced. She goes in for plastic surgery to be more like her husband’s mistresses and “I got a different kind of procedureβ¦ one that left me wanting things I shouldnβt and seeing myself in a new light. I lived every sentence! The words were visceral, touching, real and AMAZING! A true love story. I haven’t connected with a book like this in a long time. I was concerned going it would be too sad but the way this author told the story made it something special. I felt I was right there with her every step of the way. Heck, I could have been her, that’s how real it felt. Has anyone else read it? If you haven’t you should. I promise it’s a good one! I highly recommend. It gave me the same “feels” I felt when I read “After, I Do” by Taylor Jenkins Reid.“
- LandslideΒ by Jenn Cooksey <— Samantha loved THIS new release! “Woah! Landslide was an excellent book. This is the worst book hangover Iβve had since Beautiful Disaster, Thoughtless, etc. This has one of the best written epilogues Iβve ever read and I needed tissues. The writing was great, plot was real feeling and the MCβs were both relatable. I laughed, cried and at times wanted to scream and slap someone. Perfect mix of romance, suspense, and gave me all the βfeelsβ… It was seriously SO good and Iβm a little hard to please πΒ “
- THERAPYΒ by Kathryn Perez <— ON SUPER-SALE!!! Sherry loves it!! And AMY loves it, too! She says: “Ladiesβ¦Therapy by Kathryn Perez is GOOD!!! Some angst, some emotion, some rotten people, some sweetness, some βno freaking wayββ¦okay, a good amount of βno freaking way.β …Let me know if any of you read it so we can have an empathy party!”
- The Thorn BirdsΒ byΒ Colleen McCullough <— Remember THIS one!??? OMG TOTALLY FORBIDDEN! I actually haven’t read it but watched the series on TV as a child and was BLOWN AWAY by the crazy, angsty story. Well… the author just passed away, but if you don’t know this book yet, and love forbidden love stories, it is a MUST!
- The Beauty Series Bundle: Beauty from Pain, Beauty from Surrender, Beauty from LoveΒ by Georgia Cates <— ENTIRE series bundled at a rock-bottom price!!!! SO MANY love this series BIG time, and Annie says: “They live up to the hype- really. - Fake: The Scarab Beetle Series: #3 (The Academy)Β byΒ C. L. Stone <— JUST RELEASED!!!
- Bait (The Wake Series Book 1)Β byΒ M. Mabie <— SUPER-SALE!! *gasp*!! This one sounds A-N-G-S-T-Y!!!! That blurb… *whoo* and then here’s just a teeny part of the blurb to give you an idea: “His girlfriend knows.Β [The guy sheβs with is a fool.] Β Iβll never love anyone like I love him.Β [She doesnβt love me enough to choose us.]”
- Mid Life Love: Complete Series Boxed Set (Books 1 & 2 )Β byΒ Whitney Gracia Williams <— Both books in the series bundled & bargain priced and Belle LOVES these! “MidΒ LifeΒ LoveΒ its fan-effing-tastick!! And the sequelΒ MidΒ LifeΒ Love: At Last is even better.”

DYSTOPIAN
- Darkest Minds, The (The Darkest Minds series Book 1)Β byΒ Alexandra Bracken <— Tasha is LOVING this one! “Iβm hooked on The Darkest Minds as per K.A Lindeβs rec from your post yesterday. 43% in and so far love it!” and Andrea loves it, too! “Maryse just finished reading Darkest Minds book 1. I would say it is comparable to Divergent, but very different. A great read. Thanks for introducing me to this new series!! Whoohooo! So excited to start book 2.“
- Thicker than BloodΒ byΒ Madeline SheehanΒ &Β Claire C Riley <— Tasha also loved this one: “I had quite the hangover from Thicker Than Blood a cpl weeks ago…”
- The Beautiful DeadΒ byΒ Daryl Banner <— Oh this looks like fun! SUPER-bargain priced, tons of great reviews but the premise!! Wow! Everyone’s pretty much dead (zombies)? and somehow she’s re-animated and beautiful but zombie-like? I dunno, that’s what I’m getting from the blurb. And she hates her new life. “…igniting romance with a dark and brooding neighbor, she finds herself wrestling madly with a First Life she cannot remember and this Second Life she cannot accept. Not to mention the maniacal army of rotting corpses who want her dead. Again.Β But none of that matters in comparison to an even bigger problem. Thereβs a guest in her house. A rude, good-looking man on the run … a man with a heartbeat.“
PARANORMAL ROMANCE/URBAN FANTASY
- Radiance (Wraith Kings Book 1)Β byΒ Grace Draven <— MichelleS found a treasure!!! She says: “Bev β you said, β I just love a slow burn and stories that really take the time to build the relationshipββ¦ well, have I got a book for you! And Michelle. And maybe Fabi, if sheβs in the right mood for it. I was searching for my next good fantasy findβ¦ and this is it. Loving it so much. Itβs called Radiance, Wraith Kings Book 1. Just released. Fantastic writing. Sheβs a human, royalty. Heβs not human, and royalty. Arranged marriage. Sounds corny, I know, but somehow this author has a fresh, original, wonderful point of view and writing style. She thinks heβs hideous. He thinks sheβs hideous. Funny and sweet and unbelievably good. I laughed out loud at the wedding feast! Canβt stop thinking about this book. Yay me!”
- Viper Game (Ghostwalker Novel Book 11)Β by Christine Feehan <— Fabi is loving this one! “Iβm reading Viper Games right now. I love this urban fantasy series. And, of course, Feehan is a master story teller giving us gut twisting action perfectly blended with heart stopping romance.”
- Sterling (Mageri Series Book 1)Β by Dannika Dark <— Michelle read this one and liked it, but it’s book #2 that REALLY got to her… She says about this one: “I finished Sterling MichelleS. It fell off a little for me with the Adam business but I really liked it and will start Twist tonight. It looks like they get better as far as the reviews show and Iβm really intrigued with the story.“
- Twist (Mageri Series Book 2)Β by Dannika Dark <— THIS one however, is really exciting them…
Michelle: MichelleS I finished Twist all in one sitting last night! I could not stop and boy did I LOVE the βtwistβ. I really adore him! This part: β(Insert hottieβs name), are you alone?β His voice was just a whisper, but it unleashed a chaos in my soul. βNot anymore.β Swoony swoon Iβm going right to the next book!
MichelleS:Β Michelle β about βTwistβ β if I recall, this is where one seriously hot character is introduced??? OMG β it just gets better and better!!! THAT guy is crazy hot (does his name rhyme with Kogan?). Itβs been too longβ¦. does he call her his Raven? or something like that? oh SWOON is right!
Michelle:Β MichelleS, yes he is introduced in book 2 but omiiigoooddd I seriously almost combust with some of the things he says and does (calls her little raven gush)! Iβm smitten β heβs exactly the type of alpha character that is perfect in my mind. Iβm hooked like losing sleep hooked! Iβll be honest the first book was good not great but the second catapulted my rating. It was the intriguing premise in book 1 that pushed me on and really really glad I kept going. Iβm reading this series straight through for sureβ¦who needs sleep!
MichelleS:Β This is one of those series that has good installments and GREAT installments (like Black Swan and Elemental Mysteries, etc). Stick with it. Itβs worth it.
Michelle:Β Michelle, they are addicting like that. I start reading and think well one more chapter and then I look up and Iβm almost done with the book! I totally agree like I said about it getting better with each book. I again finished book 3 almost in one sitting last night and it was the best one yet. I love Finn tooβ¦really all the characters are great. A lot of you would like these books if you havenβt already read them β I know Bev, Fabi and Amy would like if not love them like I do.
- Impulse (Mageri Series Book 3)Β by Dannika Dark <—Β So while I’m here… let’s post book #3 since it was the best one yet! (Per Michelle). π
- Silence: Part Two of Echoes & Silence (Dark Secrets Book 6)Β by A.M. Hudson <— almost 600 pages!!! JUST RELEASED!
- Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound)Β by Jennifer Ashley <— ON SALE!!!Β
SCI-FI ROMANCE
- Enslaved (Brides of the Kindred Book 14)Β by Evangeline Anderson <— COMING OUT TOMORROW and sounds like SO much fun!!! “Thrace Sβver is an unwilling slave. Drugged and bound, he is taken to the Flesh Bazaar and put up for sale to the highest bidder. But this is not the first time Thrace has been on the auction blockβhe has a past full of horrors he doesnβt intend to repeat. Desperate to be free, he swears heβll kill whoever buys him. Lonnara Trin is the Captain of a merchant ship from the all female planet of Zetta Prime where sexual relations with a male are considered unnatural and wrong. She has no use for males personally, but she needs a big, muscular slave or her business will sufferβThrace fits the bill.“
PSYCH-THRILLER/HORROR
- Room: A NovelΒ byΒ Emma Donoghue <— not bargain priced but considering how much luck I’ve been having in this category, and how this option was suggested to me after The Girl on the Train, and Sadie saying: “My sister LOVED that one! That’s on my list. Looks very good”, I’ve decided I’ll be giving this one a go, soon! The premise? He and his mother are held prisoner in a room (but he is so young and doesn’t realize that there is a world beyond the room or that they are “prisoners” in there)… “Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it’s not enough…not for her or for him. She devises a bold escape plan, one that relies on her young son’s bravery and a lot of luck. What she does not realize is just how unprepared she is for the plan to actually work.“
- Gone Girl: A NovelΒ by Gillian Flynn <— I’m on a kick for books like this right now (apparently because everyone tells me since I’m loving these psych-thrillers, I need to READ this one). True? bev says: “If you have not been spoiledΒ GoneΒ GirlΒ is crazy good.” (and I can assure you I have NOT been spoiled yet).
- StayΒ byΒ Emily Goodwin <— Recently released, bargain priced and sounds deliciously creepy!!! “Home after her first year of college, Adeline Miller is looking forward to a stress free summer filled with reading, working on her blog, and spending time with friends. But all that changes in an instant when she is witness to something terrible, something she wasn’t supposed to see.“
- The CellarΒ byΒ Natasha Preston <— CAAA-REEEEEPY sounding!! “For months Summer is trapped in a cellar with the man who took herβand three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. His perfect, pure flowers. His family. But flowers can’t survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out…”
- Because She Loves MeΒ byΒ Mark Edwards <— Nancy found us this one on SUPER-SALE too saying: “Been in my long Wish List & looks really creepy but good!” OH YESS!! Maybe SHE’S the stalker! “…as the two of them embark on an intense affair, Andrew wonders if his grasp on reality is slipping. Items go missing in his apartment. Somebody appears to be following him. And as misfortune and tragedy strike his friends and loved ones, Andrew is forced to confront the frightening truth…Is Charlie really the girl of his dreams β or the woman of his nightmares?”
DARK READS/DARK EROTICA (with “love stories”)
- Fear Me (Broken Love Book 1)Β by B.B. ReidΒ <— This one intrigues me BIG time. He’s her bully (has been since they were kids) and he sounds like a REAL piece of work! Niki says: “Fear Me was really good!! Very intense and I was scared of the βHeroβ the whole timeβ¦. it does end with a cliffhanger though! … I finished it last night and then went back and re read my favorite parts todayΒ Β I was scared for the heroine the whole time!! Very good!!”
- Addict (Cravings Book 1)Β byΒ Rachael OrmanΒ <— RECENT release, gorgeous cover, great reviews and bargain priced! “I was lostβ¦until him. I canβt tell you who he is, or why he does the things heβs done. All I can say is I hope one day I behave well enough to take off the blindfold and see the man who controls my addiction. My Master.“
- The HermitΒ byΒ Shayne McClendon <— Nancy found out this one’s on SUPER-SALE!! I actually read it over the summer. It’s good! Creepy. “When Dr. Ryan Wallace retreats to the Alaskan wilderness to find peace with his past, the last thing he expects is to stumble across a broken woman barely clinging to life…“

Seth!! Heβll never be Aiden but I could go for a good-sized dose of Seth.Β Β It comes out next month and starts the new Titan series (Covenant spinoff). That coverβ¦Iβm feeling like a dirty cougar right now. *snort*” (expected release February 16th 2015)

- Falling For My Best Friend’s BrotherΒ by J.S. Cooper <— expected release date February 28th 2015

Haha. I’m with Amy about The Return. Ah, I adored Seth, even with everything we learned. That cover is pretty too. *grins*
Every last breath can not come soon enough. I didn’t even vote because, for the first time, I liked both boys equally!
*ducks* I have read the whole Mageri series. I must have liked them, but… I don’t remember any of it.
Finished Master of Crows. It was fun to read some fantasy.
Then I started Sweet Disorder by Rose Lerner. It had a lot of good reviews last year. What I’ve read so far I like but…I’m going to squirrel. I have In the Bleak Midwinter the first in a mystery series I’ve wanted to try for a while. And, well, I just feel like a mystery. I do have to say that the set up between the two main characters has me slightly worried, not my favorite, but going for it. And then right back to Sweet Disorder.
Tessa, I bought the first in the Mageri series and didn’t remember, lol.
Out of control.
Oh good. I don’t feel too odd now.
Oh, finished Owned by M. Never (Amy mentioned it a while ago). Good book, but kind of predictable. I still want to read Claimed, but no where near the intensity of the Debt series. I think I’ve become spoiled by extremely good writing.
Unfinished by Shae Scott is on sale right now for .99. Book 2 is called Indelible and it will be out on Feb 2nd. (It’ is up for pre-order now). Just thought list it in case anyone hasn’t read it.
The Beautiful Dead sounds interesting so I clicked. I think Landslide has to be my next read after I finish the Mageri series of course.
Tessa, you are a pnr fan so I’m shocked that you can’t remember this series! I’m on book 4 already because I can’t put them down!
Bev, what did you think of Master of Crows. I thought about reading it but got sidetracked.
Michelle, I bought and consumed the whole series last April. I went to re-read it again, and remembered Adam a bit, but the rest is a blank. At least it’s a good re-read? *grins*
Oh, I want to know about Master of Crows too.
The five stages of falling in love has to be one of my all time favorite books of all time! It is the IT book for 2015!!!
Master of Crows, I really liked it. The beginning is a little rocky with the world building. I was expecting this from the review I read and like they said it smoothed out quickly. I think MichelleS mentioned that she wished certain parts were not skimmed over and I felt the same about this book. I would of liked more of their daily interactions.
Also, this may sound boring, but oranges play apart in the book and they make neroli oil and perfumes from the flowers. Well, she describes the work room with its bottles and smells and I was like, “oh I’d like to spend some time in here”, but we really didn’t.
I think there will be more in this world and I’ll read it.
Sorry in advance if this gets lengthy (and if I’ve gushed about it before), but I have to throw in my two cents about the Dark Secrets series by A.M. Hudson. The short version – in case y’all don’t feel like reading my rambling π – it’s about vampires, the books are all a good length, it follows Ara from late high school into adulthood, and the books get better writing-wise as the series goes on. Yes, some things are eyeroll-worthy in it, but everything else about the story makes up for it. Definitely worth the money.
Okay, longer version: Holy crap, this series has had me all over the place. I read it when the first book was actually two separate books, and to be honest I’m surprised I stuck with it after the first book because Ara was an annoying little twit with her arm crossing and temper tantrums and just overall childish behavior. BUT, she does grow up and mature as the series goes on. There is a scene though (I *think* it would be in the new combined first book) that was so awful that I had to take a break at one point. And it’s a lengthy scene that just wouldn’t seem to end. *shudder*
What has made them stick with me and has kept me hooked is how I have gone from loving to hating and back to loving the characters! Ara irritated me but then started maturing so I liked her, *then* she did something SO STUPID in book 3 and I couldn’t stand her to the point where I almost didn’t continue the series. And now I like her again! Then David is horrible, and I don’t think I have *ever* despised a character to the extent I did after loving him so much. Despised!!! Like, want-to-throw-some-acid-on-the-mothereffers-junk despised. And now he’s back in my good graces which I never thought would be possible. Oh! And then there is this other character (won’t say which one) who I absolutely HATED beyond all hate but who now the author has made me love. How the heck does she do all that?!?
*deep breath* And that concludes my out-of-control rambling. π
Holy. Sh!t.
That post ended up ginormous. *covers face and shakes head*
Ok, so mentioning the work room reminded me of another book I’ve seen positive reviews for. I think it is called The Lover’s Knot by Satie, something like that, lol. It’s a historical, not sure what period, but the heroine makes ink. It looks interesting and was wondering if anyone here has read it.
Amy, lol. We all do it. I’ll have to look it up
I’m not good with the unlikable heroines but love gray characters who change and grow.
So, this is embarrassing but I read a book were the heroine said something to another character, not a slur or anything, but it upset me that I do not even want to try other books by the author. It feels silly.
Amy, those books are long!! But it is only .99 cents for the first book so I’m going to check them out!
Started the Mageri series and liking it so far.. I’m not really feeling Adam but maybe that’s just because the Michelle’s are making me antsy to read book 2 π
Bev, I enjoyed Master of Crows, too. I liked the fact that the characters in Radiance didn’t have instant love syndrome. Grace Draven builds unique worlds with unexpected heroes/heroines.
Ok Bev and Debbie liked Master of Crows so it’s staying on my list.
Amy I got the first AM Hudson book free and I’ve seen it for free a couple times since so if anyone wants to wait and see. I do want to read it though especially after your gush π
Niki yey I really think you will like them. So far they’ve only gotten better. Book 2 is the one that hooked me and really I thought I had the series direction firgured out but the twist threw me for a loop! Adam is my least favorite character right now…just wait like I said it goes in a totally unpredictable direction…a totally delicious hunky man direction π
Oh yes, please try The Traveling Man <~~~LOVED, AND Bait!! Both of these books have left a large impression on me. And both need to hurry and release 2nd books!
And Therapy is another must with a great price.
If you liked Grace Draven’s books, you may also like Winter King by C. L. Wilson and Betrothed by Jill Myles.
Amy, that reminds me of the Dark Light series a little. Apparently, a fantastic series that hundreds of people love. But I couldn’t get past not liking Dorian’s actions and her reactions. π I think I have a lack of patience problem. :-O
Looks like next week will be another one-click frenzy week for me. Enslaved, Happenstance part 3, Hero, plus all the crazy good recommendations from you guys. I wonder if Amazon would hire me and pay me in books?
Landslide makes me think of Sweet Gum Tree, A Second Chance in Paris and The Mason List; childhood friends who become more. Tissues anyone?
I’m sure I’ve read Room, just wonder was it a fanfiction first??
I’m liking You Really Got me ( always love a rock star story) and The Five stages of Love.
Just finished reading Throb. Which was a good, sweet story, but had the potential to be more. I just want to read a well-written story that has some bite to it.
Bev, I hear that a lot as far as people having a tough time with a book if they don’t like the heroine. Ya know what’s funny? I can relate to the heroines who make dumb decisions and are just plain stupid ’cause, well, let’s just say I would like to go back and kick my younger self’s a$$. π And it’s not silly about feeling that way after being offended by something in a book…I know I’ve been there before.
Niki, they are long but they read fast! Let me know what you think of it when you do read it.
Michelle, you’ll have to let me know as well what you think about DS. Just remember ladies, it’s one of those series that gets better as it goes on…at least *I* think so. π
Hey everybody! So way back when I discovered your blog a few years ago, you had posted this book, Grade A Stupid by A.J Lape, I think it was a freebie then. Anyway I one clicked and I devoured it. It was surprisingly really good! Different cover, and YA but really good murder mystery, romance, and lots of comedy! So I was in the mood for something different recently and this one popped in my head and I checked and there were 2 more out already, No Brainer and 100 Proof Stud. Read them back to back, they were great! And there’s another coming February 17! They follow Darcy Walker, a high school girl who is always finding trouble and a dead body and she can’t help but try and solve the mystery. She also has lots of guy friends that are true characters! Kind of like a young Janet Evanovich.
Amy I hear you about kicking my own butt:-/ Wish there were time machines sometimes. And it is one of those only in books and usually only in romance, lol. In *real* life I’m more understanding and relate more.
In the book the heroines bf is grieving the loss of her husband and childhood sweetheart. He had been the heroes childhood bf and is trying to be there for the widow and mend some fences. Heroine gets jealous and says things to her bf. If she just thought them I’d understand, cause we all have thoughts we would never say or act on.
Sherry, there’s a cliffhanger at the end of Traveling Man, right? That’s the only thing keeping me from reading it, especially after all the good things I’m hearing about it!
Debbie, I zeroed in on Betrothed in your comment. I’m a sucker for arranged marriage stories! Aaaaaaand apparently I’ve already one-clicked it at some point…thanks for the reminder!
Fabi, you’re not alone with the DL series. π The second book was crazy angsty for me but I got over his “decision” by the end (told y’all I can relate to the stupid ones *eyeroll*), but the third book was the final straw for me. I just couldn’t get past all the crap with Dorian. He knew and didn’t try harder to fight through it? The f#&k?? Jerk.
Maryse, Big yes to Gone Girl. I’m not sure how I stayed unspoiled with all the talk, and especially now with an Oscar nom.
I mentioned it on your challenge post, but if you have never read Rebecca you might like it. Hard to type it. Gothic, psych-thriller, mystery, also some romance. Oh, and first person pov from the heroine.
Hi Tasha! *waves* π
Cheryl, I haven’t read ASCAP but Sweet Gum Tree and Mason List… *sigh* They were good ones, right? Especially SGT. Kick in the gut at that one part. Tissues indeed.
Yep, Bev, I totally get it. π
Amy I don’t remember if I dnf’ed book 2 or 3. But he was a d!ck and acted like he was “poor me” and she was a pushover crying into her alcohol and giving in time after time. I just couldn’t take any more.
Althouh, as I said before, apparently the plot shifted and he redeemed himself because so many people loved the series.
Hey, just call me oddball. :-/
Fabi, the angst in book 2 was delicious to me, and I liked the turn it took at the end. But book 3 just p!ssed me off, and it even messed up the end of book 2 for me. Pretty much she asked “would you have done *this* if not for *that* happening.” And the response to that question messed up my happy feels from the end of book 2. π
Yup Amy, I remember that too. So you’re right, it must have been 3.
Oh well, we can’t love ’em all can we?
(sure go ahead, you can run with that -lol)
Dark Light #3 was a DNF for me too…. I think I got bored? Who knows…
Traveling Man sounds wonderful and magical, but a cliffhanger? BOO!!
Amy – you’ve convinced me to try Dark Secrets with all that gushing and loving and hating – and it’s .99, so that’s a no brainer. Is it YA? Do I get some hanky panky? Just want heads up if I get only “fade to black”…. π
I just got Neighbor from Hell, the Game Plan… and I loved all he others… so I think that’s my Saturday read.
Michelle – can’t wait until I hear what you think of where the author took Justus with the Mageri series….. that was one set of books that I predicted NOTHING right. Constantly surprised!
Amy – hating heroines? for me, the ultimate “I am done” with you was Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry (both by LKH)… if I start hating everything they say or do, I’m done. The other one was Stephanie Plum. Boink Ranger and get dump Morelli already and freaking take the bus… no more blown up cars! ARGH! I don’t think I have hated any heroines as much as these three! Great topic though.
So many of these sound good! I one clicked Bait because it’s been on my short list for a while. But, I think im going to read a Second Chance at Paris next then maybe You Really Got Me.
Julie, Bait looks good but I hear it ends on a CH and book 2 is not out yet. Let me know. Too many on this list that I’m interested in that end with a CH, which I HATE!!!
MichelleS I have about 25% left in book 4 (it was a long one!) but I totally cried twice in this book already. I’m heartbroken about you know who…can’t say much because some are reading. And someone’s reaction to Silver’s surprise for him had me swooning again. Ugh love this story. I want to read her Seven series now too – have you read this one?
MichelleS, oh I used to love Stephanie Plum. I am opposite of you wanted her to pick Joe, but would of been happy with any choice. But yes started not to like her when the author was trying to come up with loop holes for her to be with one or the other, it’s a curse!, at different times. That one kind of hurts cause had such affection for them, were books I’d buddy read.

Yeah I’m with u on the dark light series u are reading it thinking really?! Are u that stupid? I read them all then at the end was kinda well that’s that then nothing to exciting not like the fae chronicles I just finished OH NO that was a total stalk the author for the next book now!!
Michelle I read the game plan it’s really funny I just love those Bradford boys!
I don’t know what I feel like reading now I’m swaying towards a paranormal or a rom com was thinking maybe twist? What’s the 1st one called? I stil have a ton on my tbr that u all recommended last time but I dunno any suggestions? MichelleS and bev u 2 are usually my gurus of this kind of rut what do u think?
One more: Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines is .99
I looked at my goodreads profile. This is the first year I’ve actually put in books as I read them, and crap. I’ve already read 35 books this month. I honestly need to learn how to read slower! :O Though it explains why I forget them.
I’m trying to read My Dragon to Slay today. I’m on page two, so… Try is the operative word.
Thoughtless, 99Β’? Geesh, I’m tempted to get it on my kindle app just to have it there rather than my Kobo app.
Michelle – I started the seven series, and I remember really liking it… but I can’t remember a THING about it. I would have to go back and re-read it so I could get the premise. There’s a whole bunch of those now too. I got to the middle of book two and then squirreled. Not sure if that’s a good thing….
Did you meet the woman doctor yet?? I can’t remember when she comes in, but I ended up REALLY liking her too. I love it when an author gives us lots of women in a book to like. Hate Mary-Sues…. and this author doesn’t do that, so that’s a huge plus for me.
Laura – Paranormal and / or Rom Com? How about both? If you don’t mind going old school (by old I mean published 3 years ago!)… then how about the Mane Attraction by Shelly Laurenston? Super sexy. Shifters. Laugh out loud funny. One of my favorite series ever. They are all stand-alones (different couple in each) but you get snippets of old characters, which is cool.
Wow I missed all the conversation last night! Did you guys 1-click as many books as I did from this list…I think I have a sprained finger! Lol!
Okay I know I’m late to the game, but I read Beautiful Oblivion last night and this morning and just LOVED it! Moving on to Beautiful Redemption now…… yep, I totally steered away from my TBR….
Ooo Michelle that’s going on the tbr but after looking at the comments I looked into the mageri series but then noticed her seven series so I started seven years, so it started kinda slow with no hint to paranormal then it goes kinda wham! But now I’m getting to the good part it’s going to have I think a sort of BDB vibe in the sense that each story in the series is about a different ‘brother’ and like our BDB they all have their different personalities sooooooo I will let u all know how it goes but so far it’s looking very promising!!!
Started Book 5 MichelleS and I’m sad that the series ends at this book π She should have made it longer since I love the world and characters. The doctor, Page, has a bigger part in this book and I liked where it was going.
Laura you should read the Mageri series if you want PNR. It’s held my attention and I’ve burned through the books – love them!
Tessa, whoa 35 books! You’ve got even me beat at 29. I grabbed Thoughtless to have on my kindle. I’m slowly getting my favorite books from my old nook so I can have them all in one place.
Laura posting at the same time π Yes let me know if you like that series because after the Mageri series I’m really interested!
Oh Michelle it’s getting good!!!
Oh Fabi, what have you done with giving me that permision? Yeah, we can’t *love* them all but we can certainly lic…I mean *like* them all, especially if they are lickable…er, likable. LIKE-able. Yep, that’s what I meant. π
MichelleS, you woman after my own heart with the hanky-panky comment. No fade-to-black in Dark Secrets books. It may start out with them in high school, but it is most definitely not YA. π
*snort* Jean has a sprained finger. No wonder you weren’t here last night to chat with us!! LOL!!!!!
Cheryl and Julie, Bait *was* good but I didn’t like Blake all that much at the end, so the CH didn’t bother me. Imagine that…me not freaking out over a CH. π Y’all know I thrive on the angst in books with cheating (even though I don’t condone it IRL) so it wasn’t about that. It was more because of her decision making and what she requested of one of them. Pretty much it was “I’ll do *such-and-such* but you have to let me have *this*”…b!tch, really?
But those are just my feelings, and I think I’m in the minority. And, consider the source (me) and take it for what it’s worth. π
Jean, right there with the horrible one clicking and I had been doing so good. *sigh* For some reason when I’m not reading as much I buy more…. It is a problem. I grabbed Kyland, The Travelling Man, Shields of Winter.
Unlike Tessa (whoa!) I only got through 10, I’ll never catch up, lol. Then decided to go to library to grab Julie Garwood’s Ransom to re read, cause u know why not, lol. Remember I loved this book so long since I’ve read any of her books.
I kind of remember Ransom! That one was sweet, and it was King John’s reign, which I adore. Bev, have you read Virginia Henley? Her historicals were always full of royal intrigue. *grins*
Oh, FYI, 35 books is nuts and means I don’t remember anything. 10… my memory might be better.
I’ve tried five different books, and nothing sounds works. The only one I really want to read I can’t until either Monday or Tuesday. (I totally overspent on my book money this month) So, I’m going to re-read too. Fallen Fourth Down.
Tessa 35 books in 30 days?! Michelle, 29 books in 30.days?! That’s insanely fast reading. Maybe I should hire you to go through my tbr…wait, that won’t work will it? I’m going to try to limit buying only what I’m going to read right now unless it’s a super sale. So if I want the book it goes on my wish list until I can start reading it, then I buy it. Hopefully I’ll fit in a few of the ones accumulating on my tbr too. Y’all hold me to this. Otherwise you may see me at your streetcorner with a cardboard sign around my neck which reads “will work for books”.
Amy rotflmao. Serieously girl, you’ve had me in stitches.
Ok finished seven years by dannika dark loved it!!!! Can’t wait to see we’re the rest goes! Straight onto six months now!

Laura I’m for sure reading that series if you are liking it. That’s how the Mageri series is for me…really addicting! I thought but maybe I’m wrong that the Seven series is in the same world as the Mageri series. I will finish up the last book today and then I think I have to read the Until the End of the World series since I saw the last book is out. My new thing is complete series since there are too many CH and whatnot for me lately.
Michelle book 2 is amazing so far aswell would definitely recommend it! My friends really aren’t into paranormal books so I have to recommend it to all of u instead!
Michelle, thanks for the update on the sales. I like your idea of reading only complete series. My problem right now is trying to keep up with sequels while still enjoying the new authors and new releases coming out.
There are more books planned for that series too Laura. I kinda think she should have kept going with the Mageri series since it feels to me that there is more story to tell.
Your welcome Fabi – I will try to post dailyish if people are finding them useful. Thought Translucent looked good from that list so I clicked. I’m trying to not start too many incomplete series since yes I have a list of books to get just for those. Plus I find myself rereading a lot of them because I forget the previous book(s) by the time the next one is out. I also think I take more from a series reading it back to back. Oh I wanted to ask if you had read the Legend series that was mentioned in the KA Linde post? It was on my radar but wanted to know what you thought of it since our taste in dystopian is similar.
Fabi, I had the same thought about reading what I buy. So I left my new buys right on the main screen. Then of course squirreled to one of them, lol. Shield of Winter is wonderful right now.
For Feb I think Worth the Risk is the only one I’m looking forward to. So, unless super sale or a surprise release from a fave I think I’m set til March. Knock on wood.
Fabi, I am having the same problem. I like the idea of waiting for a whole series too, especially since they’ve been coming out bundled and on sale.
I have to say I don’t talk about books much in *real* life. When I was reading was more diverse ( want to get back to It) I did a bit more. But never really romance. Reading in general, well, a lot of people I know that is not their preferred form of entertainment.
Michelle, the Legend series is not one of my favorite series. I read the first book or two but never followed up on the rest of them. I’ve been wondering if I should re-try it. Maybe I just in the mood for it when I read it. It was quite a long time ago. Years. I think Darkest Minds is better or the Unwind series which is mind blowing.
Bev, same here with talking about books. Even the people I know IRL who enjoy reading are not as passionate about it as I am. Honestly, until social media, in general, and Maryse’s book blog, in particular, I thought maybe there was something wrong with me because of my obsession with books. There have been many family comments (jokes with negative connotations) about my extreme reading. Finding out that many other people read even more than I do and are even more passionate about their books has been such a huge relief (validation of sorts). So yeah, I know what you mean. :-/ I never let any of that sway me from reading. π
“Will work for books”???? LOL!!!
Alright, I know I gushed about Dark Secrets above because of the craziness from loving/hating/back to loving the characters, but I loved the Captive series for the actual story itself, if that makes any sense. And it’s vampires. π You know how you love books for different reasons, like the descriptiveness, the realness of the characters, the angst, the sweetness, etc.? Well, I’ve enjoyed the DS series because of the craziness, but I love the Captive series for the originality of the storyline (at least that storyline was a first for *me*) and Braith is just… *swoony sigh* And .99 for all five books?!? Ladies, snag that bundle for that price even if you don’t plan on reading it right away…but I recommend that you do!! π
One more thing…you guys wanna get a good laugh at me? Okay, y’all know how it drives me crazy when someone spoils something in a book. I *know* it’s by accident most of the time, and I’ve most likely done it myself without meaning to. But still…it sucks to have things spoiled.
Anyways, so I’m reading Shadowfever still, right? Well, I wanted to refresh my memory on something in Dreamfever that I couldn’t remember, so I went back to the library, clicked on the book and moved the slider at the bottom to where I thought the part would be that I was looking for. Guess what? I had reopened SF instead of DF and SPOILED SOMETHING MAJOR NEAR THE END OF SF!!!!!. Who does that??? Oh, that’s right…me! π
Feb for me is The Return and Hero (A good reads group read book). Other than that, it’s catch up time.
Amy, I agree on the Captive series. I got the four book package after reading the first two and the story is insanely different and good. Loved it so much. I might by the set just for book five. *grins
Fabi, I might try the Legend series since my library has them so at least I do not have to spend any money. I haven’t read the Unwind series either…more for my huge list π
I agree Amy and Tessa on the Captive series. My list was skewed a little towards pnr today but I have a lot of those on my wishlist. I think book 5 though is a spinoff so not much Braith. I’ve only read the first four so not positive.
Ugh Amy, that sucks about the spoiler. Sounds like something I’d do accidentally too. π
Captive series for 99 cents? Hmmm I have to go see what that one is about.
Tessa, I’m also waiting for Hero. I’m kind of excited about it. I hope it turns out to be really good.
I finished reading Viper Games and I’m about halfway through with Beatiful Redemption. *sigh* I’m in heaven being back with the Maddox brothers. I was so looking forward to Thomas’ story.
Michelle you’ll have to let me know what you think of Legend. I hear the series has a spectaculat ending but I never got that far so I may revisit it at some point.
Tessa and Michelle! Book 5 is great! It is about Jack and Hannah (she lives in one of the “outcast” villages). I didn’t know how well I would like it after four books of Braith (Braithgasm!!!!!) but I did. Fell for Jack and absolutely *adored* Hannah. And Braith and Aria pop in. π
There is a prequel coming out about Atticus called Broken. I’m not sure how I feel about reading about him, but I was surprised by how much I liked Redemption (book 5) so I’ll give it a shot.
Hey guys! Finished Beautiful Redemption today and loved it! And started Past Heaven… it was on one of Maryse’s lists this week… Well, so far, so good! I was blubbering just from the prologue!!! Sucked me right in! (No comments Amy!)
Oops, Amazon says I already the Captive series so I checked my Kindle and yup, read all four books. Maybe I need to pick up 5 and the prequel because I loved this series.
Jean, I knew you were reading Beautiful Redemption too. I got sidetracked on a day trip with my Mom yesterday though so I’m only halfway through. Glad you loved it. I do too so far.
Yep it was good Fabi, but I really LOVED Beautiful Oblivion!
That one was heartbreaking for me.
Fabi – My family, too, makes negative comments about my reading! Isn’t that nuts? As if watching the Bachelor is any better? My mom will call and say, “You’re not reading, are you?” and I lie much of the time! In what crazy universe is it frowned upon to open a book and READ for entertainment? Especially in today’s world when people consume video games, music, social media on their devices that never leave their side. The super cool thing about this blog site is that you all share my taste in said books… no different than my son talking to gamers about what just happened in Call of Duty.
MichelleS everything you just said is SO true. Reading is still, to some extent, thought of as anti-social. I recently made a comment on a Twitter conversation about how much I love e-books because I always take my book everywhere I go. Since the advent of e-books and the popularization of social media, I can safely read my book in public while pretending to be interacting with social media which (for reasons unknown to me) is much more acceptable than reading.
For those of you ladies who read Nocte (and freaked out like me over the CH), Verum is LIVE!!! Oh, and Nocte is .99 right now. Happy Monday to us!! π
Sucked you right in, Jean?? And how… *reads part about no comments*
π
Why you gotta ruin my fun? *sigh*
Oooo thank you Amy! I did freak out with that one… Buying Verum right now!
MichelleS and Fabi, totally agree with your comments. I feel like I have to hide my reading habits which is just ridiculous!
Oh and I’m LOVING Past Heaven!!!! Woman’s husband dies leaving her with 3 children. Hollywood actor approaches her about doing a screenplay/movie about her husband. She has to work closely with him, reminiscing about her life with her husband to get the story told and oh boy does it hurt!!!! Soooo good!!!!
Lol Amy! Seriously, I would be disappointed if I didn’t get a comment from you!
Oh Until the End of the World is good! Still reading but who read After with me and liked that vibe – Jean I know you did and would love these books. I was the one that found Past Heaven thinking it looked really good – glad to hear it is! I grabbed it already and now anxious to read but I have so many lined up for this week that look amazing too…what a problem to have!
I’m lucky that in my family we have a lot of readers but not too many have my tastes so that’s why I love discussing books here π
I was lucky in that with my immediate family it was accepted. I loved music & books it just was. I was taken to the library when ever I wanted and allowed to check out as many books as I wanted.
But I think romance would of been frowned on when I started reading them, lol. And the couple times it was noticed I got comments so just never share that.
But IRL most of the people I know read maybe 2 or 3 books a year so it’s just not their thing.
You’re reading it Michelle?? Yay!!!! π The second book is even better but delivers a gut kick. I wasn’t even halfway through it and BAM! I wasn’t recovered from the WTF event (good lord, I’m still not) but I *was* starting to feel better and the book was like, “oh really, you think I’m done with you?” and BA-BAM!! This was me after the second book:

Haha Amy that will probably be me too…I’m reading the whole series since its complete which is my new MO. Did you read the novella in between book 1 and 2? Wondering if I need to?
Michelle I read After with you and liked it so I was just about to ask you more about the one you’re currently reading…then I saw Amy’s response…and I ran away screaming “squack squack squack”.
Michelle, I just saw that Winds of Winter by George RR Martin is definitely not coming out this year. At the earliest 2016. Have to say not surprised, but damn I want that book.
Yep, I read After with you guys and loved it too! I won’t forget that one! Just checked out Until the End of the World and it looks great! 1-click!! Tons of awesome reviews I noticed too! Now I have to add this to my TBR too. How many books are in the series?
Is it odd I totally β₯ Michael Scott?
You don’t have to read the novella (So Long, Lollipops…the title makes sense after you read it ;)) but it is a good addition to the story. Just *don’t* read the blurb for SLL until after you finish UTEOTW.
Ladies, Wait For You is sooooooo good!! It’s by J. Lynn who is also Jennifer Armentrout who is the amazing author of…*drumroll*…the Covenant and Lux series! Here, I’ll say it for you: “Amy is a dork.” But seriously, it really is good and definitely not YA. *fanning self* Oh no, not YA at all. π
Amy, I love Jennifer Armentrout. I have to wait to see if it makes you cry. π
Fabi! *yanks Fabi back by her shirt* Get your a$$ back here and read it!! It’s not the sobbing kind of gut kick, more like a Walking Dead gut kick with some teary eyes and a lump in the throat.
Jean, there are three books and one novella…and all of them are out now! They read pretty fast, too. I’m starting the third one as soon as I finish Shadowfever. My lord but that book is long!
And nope Fabi…no crying in Wait For You. π
Bev, I don’t think anything is considered “odd” around here. *giggle*
Aw crap, I’ve opened the door for the comments with that statement…
Lol, you guys, I am getting no work done today! Amy I loved the Wait For You series and thanks for the info on UTEOTW (wow, that’s a long one)!
*squeeeek* k Amy ok, I’m 1 clicking Until the End of the World.
Odd? who’s Odd? *looks around* I don’t see anyone odd around here . *grin* *safe to open eyes now*
Michelle how do you find all these freebies and super sales? I’d love to hunt down some sci fi/dystopian/pnr/uf etc for my tbr
*snicker* I’m not getting any work done either right now. But come on, this is more fun! π My boss is gonna be maaaaaaad at me.
*happy dance* Yay Fabi!!
I saw that Bev and the cover reveal but yeah I will be surprised if we see the release next year. Btw I love everything The Office too!
I’m going to get the novella Amy since I might miss something π Ok I will try to mentally prepare myself for disaster in book 2 but I’m already attached to the characters π
Yey Jean and Fabi let me know what you think when ya get around to reading the first book.
Fabi, I get emails daily from multiple sites. Booklending .com which I’ve mentioned before on here is my favorite because any book you have on your borrow list, if it reduces in price, you get an email. I have hundreds on my list almost a thousand so it’s easy to see when a book I want reduces in price. I use bookgorilla.com and bookbub.com also. You can personalize your settings to which genres you like the most and they send you an email daily with a list. I basically look through a few emails daily with links directly to amazon to purchase so it can’t get easier than that. Lastly, anything on your wishlist for amazon which I basically add at least half of Maryse’s lists to my wishlist has the option to sort by price drop so you can see daily if books reduce in price and by how much. It takes time to build up the lists on booklending and amazon but once you do, finding the deals are easy.
You keep saying it’s easy but it sounds like a lot of work as well as time consuming. REALLY appreciate you sharing the results of your efforts with us.
It really only takes me 10-15 minutes to go through my emails and wishlist. I’ve gotten into a habit of doing it daily since a lot of the deals don’t last. But yes it is time consuming to add the books especially initially until you build up a good list. I use Maryse’s lists and goodreads a lot to find new releases and recommendations. I’ve saved a lot of money waiting for books to reduce in price though. Booklending.com is fantastic to try out books. Every month I get anywhere from 8-15 loans (you can also customize your weekly loans from 0-3 if you are busy one week or want more loans another). They also recommend books daily and send out emails for free books. Really highly recommend that site!
I had to grab the Rebecca Zanetti. I was just looking her up a couple days ago after seeing a positive review, but had held off. At 99 have to take advantage.
Thanks Michelle, I’ll check out booklending.com
Bev, I’ve read her Dark Protectors series and liked them. I’ve heard this newer series is even better so I’ve been waiting for a sale. I got that one and still can’t decide if I want Wait for You or If You Stay – both look good but I want to get only one.
Everyone should seriously get on booklending.com! It has so many features besides lending that make it awesome! Again you have to build up your loan/borrow list but once you do it’s not time consuming at all.
I have a list of my borrows from the site too that I rate to see which ones I want to buy. I think I entered around 15-20 books to loan at first and got a borrow within a few days. The more you offer for loans, the more borrows you get. Now, I probably loan/borrow an even ratio – like 3 a week and get 3. It takes a while to build your profile up.
How do you lend them though? Both Nook and Kindle allow lending certain books but only one time. Once you lend it you can’t re-lend it.
You can only lend kindle books and only once. So any books you’ve already lended out do not work. Just type in the book title in the search box and hit borrow or lend. You get an email either for a borrow offer or lend request. Make sure if you lend a book after going to amazon to return to the site and click the I confirm I have loaned this book so you get credit for it.
Yeah, that’s my problem. I only started using Kindle less than a year ago so the bulk of my books aren’t kindle ones. Yet. Lol
I have the same problem Fabi where most of my books were on nook – I’ve only been exclusively kindle for less than a year as well. There are sites I looked into for nook book lending but I didn’t like any of them. I still have tons of kindle books already and even all the free ones I click on, I list on the site. You do not need to put up many to get started and see if you like it. List as many borrows as you can though to get a book faster.
It’s kind of a pain to figure out which ones are lendable on Kindle isn’t it? Nook clearly marks them with a banner.
Book Two of Strange Magic will be out on February 5th!
I told you about book one and how I am not a pnr fan but how this book turned me into one!
It has been compared to the Dark Hunger series and is unbelievably good. Michelle Mankin knocked this one out of the park bigtime. You really need to check it out.
Oh no, another book to put on my wish list.
Is anyone else sorta dreading Tuesday’s list? I can’t handle one more tbr right now. Not a single one. I don’t have that much reading time. I can usually squeeze in 2-3 hours a day, but apparently, I read slow because I’m doing good to finish a couple of books a week. It’s been almost two weeks since I’ve turned on the tv. I wonder if it still works.
I’m working on the list as we speak. π
Yes Fabi, I’m dreading today’s list too! I’ll never catch up! But I think there were some good ones coming out today!
Who here has read Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley? I am JUST now getting around to reading it and I see it mostly has really great reviews. I’m at 47% and just having a huge problem connecting. Someone just push me over the edge to finish it please.. grrrr.

*heartfelt sigh* Move over Travis. I have a new book boyfriend. But don’t feel bad, only your older, more mature brother could have won your spot.
Nicolle, that made me laugh. I loved Sweet Dreams, but KA’s style is not for everyone. On another thread we just mentioned feeling like the odd man out when everyone loves a book and you just do not see it. Also, Maryse has that wonderful post on her mom and Twilight with so many responding about how much those books meant to them, except for Tessa and I, lol.
Sweet Dreams…..I honestly Loved Tate even though he can be an ass. And I really liked the story of Laurie taking this journey and changing her life, in big ways, in her 40s inspiring. Plus I liked that it was different in that she left the big house, high powered job, and rich husband. A lot of women finding the billionaire at the time.
