Good morning! What a huge list! And OMG! I didn’t realize High Voltage comes out next Tuesday!!!
Good morning!! That is a mighty fine looking list…I snagged samples of Contant and Collosion Point! 🙂
KMM is up there! Squee!!!
AND Briggs & Bishop! On same list! Mind blown. Pocket book blown.
I love seeing Nicky’s debut up there! And K.K. Allen’s Waterfall Effect comes out tomorrow. I’ve had my eye on that one for a while! Ugh I’m soooo tired. I stayed up super late again with Gods and Monsters. I cannot figure out where this book is going!
Who wants to play hooky with me?
I dunno bev…. what are we doing in this “hooky”?
Hey Bev, what does “spring/renewal” mean for the TBR challenge theme? Nay said she thought “2nd chance love” was one interpretation.
Yeah, the new Lylah James book!
Next week is going to cost so much money. 0.0 All three books I want are fourteen dollars each. I planned for it, though. 🙂 Sort of. lol High Voltage, Burn Bright, and Lake Silence all on one day. EEEEEEEP
I can’t remember what I was thinking, lol.
But I think that works. Renewal of an old love.
Maybe a life change, heroine changing her life/career.
Maybe recovering from grief, illness, or so on. Spring following a winter.
Is it a book “hooky?” I miss doing them. Once upon a time, I used to take JR Ward Release Day (Yes – it’s a holiday) off to sit home BY MYSELF and just indulge, indulge, indulge. Sadly, I haven’ done that in a long while.
I am definitely ready for a read of Consequences! I am committed to reading Atheists Who Kneel and Pray first.
Well, it is too late now.
Hmm. What could we have done…
We all meet for coffee first and a really great diner breakfast.
Then we go to your house were we are going to read, but we notice that, of course, Dirty Dancing is playing on repeat.
So, we watch that cause R and I insist.
But we all start chatting so much that we watch two showings to see the whole thing.
We sing along to all the songs.
Then we make cake.
Amy insist we add vodka….and ok let’s.
We decorate it with all the Easter candy.
Melinda fixes it while we aren’t looking.
We are so stuffed.
Grey says we should all relax and read.
So we do.
But Leslie gets jittery. She loves a car ride.
So, Amy rents a huge humvee.
We all pile in.
Windows down and music up.
We drive and drive and drive.
Jan likes to stick her hand out making an airplane.
Then Tasha sees the beach.
We all take our shoes off and roll up our pants.
Tessa is the first to run in.
As a group we jump into the waves so they take us under and back up to the shore.
We don’t realize how much f the vodka Jean was drinking until she tries to pick up some college guys.
We get bags of Chinese food on our way back.
MichelleS Makes us read our fortunes as in bed with a fairy.
Then Maryse says, SLUMBER PARTY!
LOL bev!!!!!!
Miss your poems. And I ALWAYS say SLUMBER PARTY. I wish we could all have one this weekend, on fact. Can we? Cannnnnn weeeeeeeee???
….
“Amy insist we add vodka….and ok let’s.”
*snort*
If I had a martini right now, it would have come up my nose and it would be burning me… :P!!!!
That sounds legit. 🙂 I can see getting hooked on watching Dirty Dancing. And chatting. And singing. (Alright, I might be dancing). Is it a flavored Vodka? Why is Jan making an airplane? Yes, I am the first one in, and, really? You think I’ll get thrown back to the shore by a mere wave? PFFT! I CONQUER THE WAVES! College guys for everyone, right? Chinese is good. Make sure to get plain steamed rice, green bean whatever non-fish, Kung Pao chicken, and pot stickers in those bags. What’s wrong with being in a bed with a fairy? Unless… Is one of the college guys actually fae? Because, if so, that one’s mine.
Yay. I brought the fairy! I mean FAE, of course.( There’s a mysterious Fae dude in my current book. And all kinds of plot twists. ) how’d you know I love fortunes? I read Tarot cards, for fun!
Love it!
I wish that fantasy really happened!
Nobody puts Baby in the corner.
We just need Amy to check in and tell us how she is doing.
My goodness bev… it’s like you are reading our future.
That is the BEST get-together/slumber party potential I can imagine. Oh we will have SO MUCH FUN.
I. SAID. WILL.
*sigh*
I just want to let you know… I’m hooked on makeup tutorials on youtube like kids are hooked on watching kids unbox toys.
Seriously. It’s an addiction. I can’t stop… and I can’t FREAKING REPLICATE no matter how easy they make it look. What is this sorcery????????!!!!!!
Trying to catch up on comments. Miss a few days and Bev forgets about you and you’re not part of the “in” crowd playing hooky!! :>
Nay, congrats on your one year heartanniversary!!!!!
What’s this about Amy and surgery??
Jean, I added Midnight Valentine, at first I thought I had read it, but was thinking of Midnight Blue, which was very good also.
I did read The Worst Best Man and at first it was a little over the top, but it was hilarious and the h was strong and feisty.
Now to decide what to read next.
Cheryl stood outside the house
Looks through a window
Rain fell as she mourned her life
Tessa broke my heart a bit with her Haiku. Makes me wanna snuggle her and Cheryl.
Hahaha. You ladies are the best. Love your poem, bev. Yesss. Let’s do a slumber party. I’ll wear my Hello Kitty jammies. Dunno why I’m making an airplane with my hand though??? *scratches head*
Love today’s list Maryse. And so excited to see those new HRs up there. We HR fans have been counting the days till the new Kleypas and Duran. Hooray. They’re here! *tosses glitter bombs* And other new HR shinies as well!! *tosses more glitter bombs*
OK, let’s look at the rest. Best Worst Man looks good – already added to my tbr. New Briggs soon!! Exciting. And from my fav series of hers! Yay! Love that hunky Charles. The strong silent type. And he’s a wolf! Yummy!
OK< what else. New Rachel Higginson, And mafia. Ooh, yes. I've entered the comp and crossed everything 😀 I love it when comps are open internationally. Often on good reads they're US only, so this is great!
Hmmm. Guess that'll do for now. *wanders off making airplane noises, to resume reading Hello Stranger*
Tessa. What a beautiful and sad haiku. You are a talented poet!
Lol.
Honestly, I think it as I type it. No real forethought or planning. I also forget to proof read before I hit submit.
That’s why 2 Amy mentions and no Cheryl or Nay. Or anyone else.
As I was typing about Chinese food I did think, Where is Jean?
Drunk picking up guys.
So I did back track and add that. But that is the extent to which I plan or think these out.
Amy is having her gallbladder out, the little bastard.
I’m sure she would love to buddy watch makeup tutorials with Maryse.
Ok, seriously.
Tomorrow Tessa and Jan airplanes. How you got through childhood not doing this is beyond me.
It’s best if you rest your head on the window too.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!
I have totally been playing book hooky the past 2 weeks!
Have been on a Netflix movie watching bing while trying to get my taxes done – BAHHHHH
Seriously though I was late submitting last year and had to pay penalty 🙁
sucked the BIG one I tell you
sooooo I decided I’m going to be amazballs this year and just get ‘er done!
Just finished watching MUTE on the FLIX
it was something
just not sure what lol
https://youtu.be/ma8te7ywEio
LMAO Bev. I at least understood the airplanes.
Poor Amy. She’s young for that.
Kooloo- whats the echinacea you recommend- kind and how much?
You guys always make me giggle! Thanks for putting a smile on my face. 🙂
I am gearing up for March’s challenges…can’t wait to the picks!!
Maryse, your makeup always looks awesome, what are you talking about??
Leslie… sometimes I get bored of the same look…. I do it the same way and have been for years, and then you see all the make-up gurus online doing crazy gorgeous (yet often subtle) things that I wanna try.
Color combos that I haven’t thought of trying, and cute little highlights here and there… and then of course… the eyeliner issues. So I’ve decided to try learning this weekend.
Oh, and Kooloo, that Echinacea stuff…does it taste funny? Looks a little scary.
*gentle hugs for Amy*
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Thanks, Cheryl! I made it through a 10 hours of tests and outpatient surgery yesterday, and I feel like a pincushion, but I’m SO glad it’s over. The results I’ve gotten back so far have been good.
Amy–hope you feel better soon! *hugs*
Anyone who’s participating in the GR March challenges, don’t forget to sign up. It’s a short month and tomorrow is already March 1 (I can’t believe it!)
*hugs Amy* Hope it goes well, my friend.
I thought airplane and actually thought of making an airplane out of your hands. 🙂 I think that’s a reverse haiku. I was tired. I still am so I’m not even sure if it was. ROFL
I got all geared up to read Consequence or Blood and Roses, but instead got sucked into a series about demons instead. *shrugs* But it’s a VERY good series about demons. 🙂
What series is it, Tessa?
*scrolls back in case you’ve already mentioned it*
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
I’m still craving cake, bev… I don’t have cake.
Thanks bev. I read your hooky plan and laughed to the point where my incision started hurting. That was hilarious…and just what I needed. 😉
And THANK YOU to everyone for the hugs and well wishes! I feel like absolute crap but should be released today so I can recover at home. 😀
Congrats Nay! I’m so glad to hear your heart is doing so well.
Makeup tutorials on YouTube ARE addicting. I never can replicate them but I sure have fun trying.
YAY TO NAY & AMY!!!!!
I love both of you and I’m so glad everyone is okay.
*snuggles Manny into Amy verrrrrrrry gently*
Tessa- sad and hilarious.
Nay- wow they put you thru the big time yearly eval. Glad all is well!
Amy- hope you’re feeling incrementally better everyday. I love watching makeup tutorials too, especially Lisa Eldridge. She makes it look so easy and I love her soothing accent.
My favorite makeup guru right now happens to be TWO… and if I keep searching I’ll find more.
But I want to stick to these girls because they have “hooded eyes” and pale complexion like I do. I love them and they are beautiful and they are SO good at makeup:
Shelbey Wilson (I just bought the main makeup in this tutorial because OMG I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS DELICATE LOOK!!!!) and I’ve been following her for over a year and keep buying what she shows me and I LOVE IT ALL…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gw4g5-g3yQ
and Stephanie Lange (I LOVE her gorgeous voice and accent and she’s just beautiful and does CRAZY intense looks, but also super-delicate too which I love):

Feel better Amy! And congrats Nay!
🙂 Maryse, the series is The Dark in You series by Suzanne Wright. It’s seriously addicting. I went and bought the third book. lol It’s so well written and just a lot of fun, with an EXCESSIVELY possessive hero and a sassy, doesn’t give a crap, independent heroine. 😀
We don’t want you to hurt.
I swear there are 3 types of cravings.
1. The craving that comes then just goes away.
2. The craving that stays until you eat or drink it.
3. The one that can stay for days even after having it. So you keep having it.
Luckily the last one usually leans towards fruit for me, but sometimes not. Sometimes sweets, salt, or red meat, lol.
bev… I just go with… if I’m craving it that hard, it must be a signal from my body that I need “whatever” is in it.
You know… for my health. 🙂
*gently cuddles Amy* Hope you have a nice speedy recovery. And Nay, congrats on that wonderful, special anniversary.
bev, I agree about the cravings. The tricky one for me is chocolate. I try to stay away. Big mistake if I do the supermarket shopping BEFORE eating something. Being hungry always makes it easier to give in when you see that tempting wrapper LOL.
Jan. I have Girl Scouts “Thin Mint” cookies that a neighbor dropped off for me. They are currently in the freezer UNDER all of the other frozen foods… so I forget about them. Out of sight out of mind and all that…
and yet… now I’m thinking about them… 😉
Jan I’m reading very slow, of course. But I had to peek at excerpt for next book. Pheobe and West! It sounds fun.
Ooh yes bev. I think this should be on the other thread, but who cares. Yes, #5 of the Ravenels is due 2019 *gasp* and looks good! Woohoo! Remember when we met Phoebe in Devil In Spring? She needs some serious luvvin’.
I didn’t realize Erin Watt’s Fallen Heir was only 99 cents, so yep. Mine. Maybe it got lowered due to the book up there. *points to Cracked Kingdom*
What was everyone’s fav read of February? I love reading about those. When I looked back, I was pretty shocked to see mine was a draw between (wait for it) two new CRs!! Shock!! Not a HR! What?????? Both books were by well-known authors I haven’t read before. So, backlists here I come. Yay!!
My equal favs were: Look The Part by Jewel E. Ann. Lovely CR about a music therapist who falls in love with a widower who has a mildly autistic son. To the widower’s surprise, he falls in love too! It’s a lovely, funny and sensitively told story. Really well-written.
The other one was Dirty Dancing At Devil’s Leap. I didn’t like the cover or title, but read it on a rec. And it was lovely! A small town romance, but really well-written and involving. Very enjoyable.
I highly recommend both.
I actually read this month! And mine was In Harmony hands down. It will take a masterpiece to top it for the year.
Best of Feb for me was:
The Vixen and the Vet – 4.5 ****
In Harmony – 5 *****
Ah, crap. Two books that are TOTALLY different make my best of the month. I can’t say one over the other because they are so different.
Ryan’s Bed by Tijan – Very emotional and those last lines really hit you and makes you understand what you read in a whole new light.
Strange the Dreamer – Just mind-blowing. The writing and the intelligence of this book had me hooked. I honestly didn’t want to stop reading it. The characters were fully fleshed and very human, and the questions that kept going through my mind while reading it… some were answered, some weren’t. It was just a really well made book.
I’ll take that hug Maryse. This cold and flu season has been brutal. Have to research Kooloo’s rec for echinacea.
Hmmm, Feb. favorites would be a toss up between Look The Part- loved the strong h; From Lukov with Love- kind of tied in with the Olympics; and The Worst Best Man- it was over the top at times, but again loved the strong h. In Harmony would be a close second. I loved (5*) the beginning/middle but then towards the end it lost something for me; maybe the parents and the time apart.
I’m going to say my most memorable and addictive in February was “Neighborly”. Not the most clever mind-blowing reveal, but entertaining and … just “threatening” enough to keep me hooked.
Come to think of it… my February was awesome. Waiting for Sun, Allegedly and Forever Right Now… (on top of Neighborly). Yeah… February was excellent for me.
My favorite was Beautiful Player. I’m so glad I finally listened to Grey and Jan to find out what all the Will fuss was about!
Ok, I took everything out of my currently reading shelf and back to want to read. Also, not going to put any book on that shelf until I am reading on the regular. I finished one book this month. One.
*sigh*
My favorite things of the month are Healer. I adore this heroine and hero. ADORE.
Layers of toner on my face. I do 3 or more layers morning and night. Not astringent. Very gentle and moisturizing. Right in my hands and pat pat pat on. It fills good and my skin looks plumper, lol.
Paul Simon…..I don’t know either. But The Boxer, Loves Me Like a Rock, and Me and Julio Down by The School Yard are being repeated…..often.
Club Soda. It’s so bubbly.
Hahaha Maryse. You’ve “forgotten” about them? Uh huh……….
About what Jan? <--- See what I did there? 😉
I do not wear makeup, but I’m jealous of both their brows.
I’m glad in the first one you can still see some of her freckles. I love freckles and beauty marks.
Cheryl babe – get the tincture (a small vial of liquid) Echinacea and try for Swiss brand if your pharmacy has it. Do not buy the capsules or the lozenges or the tea, as most do not have the effective amount in them since they are not regulated and there is no third party testing.
Take is multiple times a day like every 2-3 hrs the first 3 days of a cold.
Take 1 TSP in a small amount of water and get it down fast!
Because yes Leslie it does taste funny – its a plant so ya not the best palette wise I’m afraid… I usual use a chaser ie. cinnamon works great
(i just lick the back of my hand sprinkle the cinnamon and lick again – Yummy lol)
oh and just fyi…
Echinacea was first used as a treatment for the common cold when a Swiss supplement maker mistakenly understood that it could prevent colds, and that Native American tribes in South Dakota used it for that purpose.
Native American Indians did not commonly use echinacea for the treatment or prevention of colds. Some, like the Kiowa and the Cheyenne, used it for sore throats and coughs, while the Pawnee said it was useful for headaches. The Lakȟóta said it was an excellent painkiller.
Native Americans say that humans learned to use echinacea by watching elk seeking out the herb and eating it whenever they were wounded or sick. They named it the “elk root.”
COOL RIGHT!!!
Thanks Kooloo, I love the history behind it. So, we only need to take this when we feel cold coming on? Its not a daily thing when we feel well?
Hey guys! I had to rewrite this because in my excitement auto correct did me wrong.
ONE OF MY FAV AUTHORS IS BACK.
C.J WAshington! She wrote one book in 2015, and we’ve been waiting on the second one since (she had health issues but she’s ok 🙂 )
It was the first book I read of hers and I loved it she was officially on my list of no questions asked I’ll read it.
The first is called Duke, the second is The Musketers and its just been released. If you like bikers I highly suggest giving it ago.

Thanks so much Kooloo. I’m going to get some today.
My fave February read was Beartown by Fredrik Backman. I can’t believe I waited so long to read it, loved loved it! Granted, it was also the only book I read, but it would’ve won anyway. 😉
I’m so jealous of your thin m
Whoops, slip of the thumb- mints!!! I’m starting to get ragey mine aren’t here yet. Everyone is receiving cookies right before my eyes and I know mine are in. Would it be crazy to knock on her door and say I’m here! I can take those off your hands now, save ya a trip and all. Lol I wouldn’t really, but let’s goooo!
MORNNNNNIIINGGG BEAUTIFUL SAXY LADIES!!!!
oh and the Pick4Me list is now up and waiting for you lol
Tasha Beartown has been on my TBR since December!!! *runs over to GR to add to my Pick4Me List*
Leslie babe!!! No Do Not take everyday because you don’t want your immune system to become lazy lol (It’s more scientific than that but that’s the gist of the research coming from Europe).
Ideally take it at first signs/symptoms of a cold BUT unlike Cold-FX you can take it mid-cold and it is still effective!
Spotify throwback list came up. All women. A little One Hand in my Pocket, Linger, Nothing Compares 2 U (her voice), Creep, You Gotta Be and some Criminal.

Yes, Kooloo! I have no doubt that ANYONE who reads that book will love it!

If I were a set of keys, where would I be?
Ashes by Suzanne Wright
This is the last book in the series so far (all with HFN endings) and I don’t want it to end!
I’m cheating because these first few sentences got me like whaaaaat??!!
FLT: “Scared to death. I try to suck in a breath only to swallow another mouthful of water. I can’t help but think scared to death is a pretty accurate description of how some of us meet our ends.” To Where You Are by H.A. Robinson (who wrote The Pebble Jar) and K.A. Hobbs!!
It just took me a half hour at my desk catching up on all the comments! Love bev’s “little story of us”! Although I’m not sure if bev’s impression of me….drunk and looking for college boys? Oh, ok I’m in! Lol!
Fav book for February without a doubt, Behind the Bars. But I read so many great books in February, In Harmony, Midnight Valentine, Half Blood!!!
*Hugs* to Nay and Amy!
Sorry.
I need coffee. O am having such a slump. I could totally take a nap.
Why are you sorry?
Jan – I second the love for Charles – such an awesome character – strong, quiet, lethal, and all that native American yumminess…. I CAN’T WAIT. Oh, and his dad….. yes, I will always love Bran and just knowing he is Charle’s dad is like MIND BLOWING. I geek out over Briggs people. Forgive me.
February Favorite: Dreamer’s Pool – Blackthorn and Grim Series. Still loving it so far, I am on book two now. They are long books and it’s all my catnip, so I am a happy girl.
Bev – if you like The Others, I think you’d like Blackthorn & Grim. Why? There’s a magic pool – kind of like a lake… and Grim & Blackthorn have no hanky panky going on, like you know who…. and no ponies, but there’s a cute little dog named Bramble – and no sugar cubes or ponies, but there’s a lot of herbal tea type drinking constantly, so, yeah…. you should try it.
lol You used Bev logic against her!
Sorry to Jean.
When I read again MichelleS. When I read again.
I don’t wear makeup but these are such pretty colors. Like how it can look like a stain.

We All Fall Down (Of Love & Madness, #2) by Karen Cimms
Ohhhh the angst!
I just ate my first Cadbury egg of the year. Yum!
Oh, and I wanted to say thanks so much for all the well wishes for my heart anniversary! So far, the tests are coming back good and they even went down on one of my immunosuppressants from 10 a day to 8!! Now I don’t have to go back for 3 whole months!!
That is great Nay!
I’m just so glad you feel so good.
Nay that’s awesome! Congrats.
Bev, I love that stain. I love using stains over lipsticks. 🙂 I’d be torn. There are three I really like. Sold Out Red, Elf Light Rose, and My Brown Coral. Seriously pretty!
*high fives Michelle over mutual love of Patricia Briggs and especially CHARLES* Charles is so hot! Rawr!
FLT: London, Summer 1876.
Someone was following her. The uneasy awareness crept along the nape of Garrett’s neck until the fine hairs stood on end.
Yes, the female h is named Garrett! But it works well and there is a reason for it. I’m really enjoying this one.
I used to occasionally wear a light lip color. Totally would of worn the Elf one.
I like a red lip on others always looks pretty and confident.
I adore Bran. Total crush on him. I would love to see him fall hard for someone.
My favorite is always the light… fairy/angelic look. Makeup in its awesomeness… but looks so natural. I just received my makeup from that “bridal” look. OMG I just tried it quickly and I already LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! Just enough definition… but not so much “makeup”.
P.S. I dont use much on my face (I struggle with the feel of it). But my eyes are my canvas. Then my lips.
