MichelleS & Lee, 15% into Ride Steady. Have to put it down for a bit. But was trying to control my dopey smile so didn’t worry my fellow commuters.
Travis reaction to Joker? Too cute. Amy’s ovaries would explode.
Okay, not until August, but a book that’s now up for pre-order is Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews. *squees* It’s releases Aug. 4, which just makes it one of the best birthday gifts ever! *happy dance*
I will definitely grabbing Violent Things! Love love Zeth.

Ride Steady, Ride Steady, Ride Steady….. YAY!!!! “steady, butterfly”…. OMG
Ooh my … Kristen Ashley and Laura Kaye. and I saw quite a few others. I’m never going to leave the house. Thanks Maryse as always for these wonderful lists. Your simply the BEST !
I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat again life is so hard on Tuesday!!! Too many choices!!! Xoxox. Steady.
oh YAY bev I love the sound of that!!!! God I love KA!!!
My pleasure Georgia!!! I know exactly how you feel. 😛
Yep Steady is my big one today! 😀
Yay for Ride Steady!!! That will be my next read for sure!!! Finishing up the first in the Covenant series..Thanks Amy 🙂
Tessa, I’m so excited to read Magic Shifts!!! I haven’t read the one before that because I was saving it until it got closer to Magic Shifts release!! So double yay for me 😉
Yeah! You should read the one prior. It changed EVERYTHING! Don’t read the blurb to Shifts before you read it, because the blurb alone gives spoilers. So glad another person loves those books. 😀
Alright, I’m ready to collect on some of the KA *peanuts*. I don’t think I’ve ever read any of her work before, but you all seem to love her, so I am sure that I will too!
So, a quick couple of questions, is this part of a series? Is there something I should read of hers first?
Thanks as always for being amazing!
I was wondering the same thing about Ride Steady…. part of a series? I know Bev and MichelleS are thrilled with this one today!
So, that cover of Priest…..”Holy” Hotness!!!!!!
Angels & Whiskey, The Man I Love, and Right Next Door are looking good to me. And anxious for The Trouble With Paper Planes…… thanks to Fabi for bringing that book to my attention a couple weeks ago!!
MichelleS & Lee you have probably passed me. Just picking up again for lunch.
The does Joker like pie had me laughing. Girl had guts to do that.
Oh! Is The Trouble with Paper Planes out? I just finished Daimon, so I may sneak it in before Half-Blood.
“Amy’s ovaries would explode.” <——- LOL!! OMG, I luffs ya Bev. 😉
Okay, Right Next Door sounds great! And Outlaw's Bride sounds like one I read a while back (I'll have to look up the title) where she ran from her MC family (her dad was the prez) while pregnant by one of the MC guys and married a rich, abusive man, then she came back and whoooooaaaaa was the MC baby daddy in trouble!! *hee hee*
And you're welcome, Niki! That series gets better and better with each book. Not kidding. 😉
Maryse has a steady big one today… *snort!!*
😛
Blahahaha Amy! I just fell off my chair laughing!!
Fabi, Paper Planes releases July 14th!
That Boy by Jillian Dodd is free today. I think I remember someone here liking this series!
Thank you so much for including my book ALL IT TAKES in your list!
<3 Sadie
Oh Amy ur thinking of craving constellation!! I love that whole series maybe that’s why outlaws bride look goodie gum drops!
I can’t believe u are all reading ride steady I stupidly started a series and of course in true Laura fashion you have all probably read it but I haven’t and ones I start I must read them all before I can read ride steady man so angry with myself!!
Anyhoo in reading the Riley jenson series by keri Arthur have u all read it? It’s quite Anita blakeish before the weird sexathons came into play but really good!
Jean I picked That Boy up thinking it sounded familiar too.
Laura, I do want to read all of the Riley Jenson series, but I’ve only read the first one so far. I’ve read the Angel series by her, but only the first three or four books, and got lost as to where I was. What I’ve read so far, I really liked. If I remember, I got exhausted because she writes so fast, I was having to get it like once every other month and they are full books. Then, I finally got them, and couldn’t remember where I left off. lol
It’s really good tessa the story all follows on from the last book and from pieces here and there there’s good stuff to come I find it a bit more believable, real even than the Anita Blake books and yes she has sex a lot but the author does go into it every time or make it crazy long winded it’s more about the story than the sex the story is really good it’s all kickass and the other characters are great
Doesn’t not does!
I don’t mind sex. The only reason it made me upset with the Anita Blake series is the excess didn’t fit her personality. 😀 I’ll have to look into going past the first book. At least I know where I’m at in the series! I adore a good paranormal.
“Weird sexathons”, lol. Those books used to be so very good. But then it turned into fifty pages of lets talk about sex, twenty pages of sex, stop to talk about it for another fifty, finish, then a hundred pages of all the angst they feel for having sex.
Yes! And if you are having that much sex, after a while, don’t you think she’d just accept that she’s going to? Though, I like the Merry Gentry series. Yes, steam, but no recriminations. Just “Hey, I’m a Fae and I like sex!” The personality fit better. Also, outside of it, the politics and story is not interrupted by it. It just fits in.
No, didnt fit her personality at all. Or the fit the books, not how they were first set up. Merry Gentry is erotica, to me, and thats fine. Thats what it was set up as. But Anita was UF with some elements of horror. And hate how Richard turned out. I get why he didnt want to be a part of it all, but he is written as a bad guy for it. Doesn’t feel true. Oh, well I dont think she will ever change it back.
*giggles and helps Jean back in her chair*
I remember reading That Boy a while back, and I don’t remember much about it but I DO remember I loved the writing style…it was like listening to an adorable hyper friend!
Yes Laura, that’s the one! I only read the first book, but I just remember how it was an “oh sh!t” moment when everyone realized who the kid looked like which meant he did a no-no. 😛
Just lost our power here and my tablet’s not charged and phone down to 50%…..ugh!!!
Oh no no no. That’s my worst nightmare. If I’m home I have my shelves to ransack. But away from home…ugh.
Oh crap, Jean…can you use the car charger??
Thanks Maryse for your recs! Excited for Ride Steady! Feels like there’s been a steady stream of great reads!!
“Hawk has a time-off-for-shopping policy.” Lol. Love that.
I read, actually listened to That Boy and That Wedding. Hilarious and even more so listening to them. Third book That Baby should be released soon.
Eight Minutes, does sound creepy, but also definitely an original story line.
The Man I Love sounds angsty. All It Takes’ blurb sounds familiar- was someone commenting on it before? Right Next Door and The Allure Of Julian Lefray sound good. Also the new Tiffany Snow book sounds good, but ugh book #1 in a series.
Just saw that The Man I Love, which is told from Erik’s (H) POV has a second book, Give Me Your Answer True which is told from Daisy’s (h) POV-. Seems like major angst.
I’d never heard of burritos chicharrones. Has anyone ever tried it?
Pork rinds in a burrito? I can’t say that I have. *grins* Not sure if that even sounds good.
Sloth is killin’ me. I so hope I’m wrong about what I think is going on. I hope it’s one of those books where I think I know where things are going and then BAM! That’s not what is happening at all.
Please, please, please…
Let me be wrong. 😕
Burritos chicharrones? *shudder* Now, chicharrones and salsa…THAT is yummy. 😉 Don’t knock it ’til you try it!
Yes Bev tessa feel same way about Anita Blake I loved them and will read the new one just because I want to see what happens but I agree it didn’t fit her the 1st 3or 4 books she wouldn’t let anyone touch her! Now well anything goes but the Riley jensons aren’t like that yeah she has sex but it’s not always long winded lol I wonder is michelleS has read them as she used to like Anita Blake too.
The chapter was titled Do you like Mexican, which now takes on whole new meaning. Thank you, Amy.
I like pork rinds, the puffy kind from the store. But one recipe i looked up says the kind from butcher, authentic but don’t like them really. In the book she describes it as just fried pork and the first recipe that pops up is using pork belly instead of the rinds. Confusing.
So, the first part of this I loved. Her perusing him and he so grumpy. Super fun and cute. Want more of that. I wish sometimes she’d let the chase, the falling, the does he or doesn’t he last longer. Honestly her pursuit could of lasted another 20% or so. MichelleS, Lee what do you think? Will finish tomorrow, hopefully, not as much reading time.
Chicharrones are good. However, they aren’t the belly part. That’s why I said nah, thanks. I like them plain, no salsa, nothing. I just can’t see it on a burrito.
I went into “rebel against the book I’m reading” mode. I read the whole His Twisted Games series by Chloe Hawk to date. 30 pages a book, I kid you not. They are decent, but if they weren’t Kindle Unlimited, I’d never read them. 8 books at a dollar each, only thirty pages? NOPE.
Now, still in rebel mode, reading Dirty, Bad, Wrong.
Tessa, hence my confusion. When Googled I saw a discussion on a forum, lol. I guess in tacos or burritos is fried or stewed pork fat. I think, lol. Which pork belly maybe, just the fat no.
But now totally buying a bag to snack on from store. For some reason I’m also slightly embarrassed to buy these, lol.
Last I promise on this. But this is one that popped up and ssounds like book description. Honestly this I’d eat, though my gallbladder would not be happy. Only the belly.
https://www.seriouseats.com/2011/12/the-nasty-bits-chicharron-burrito.html
Hahaha It sounds like people don’t want real pork rinds. They want either lard or belly meat. I love that you’re embarrassed. *hugs* It’s like a chip. Kinda fattening, but good.
I don’t even know what you 2 are talking about lol what are pork rinds?!
Laura, the skin of the pig, lol. I like the puffy grocery store ones. My mom used to buy some from a local butcher but i didn’t really like those, too hard.

Bev – what did I think? I am not quite done, but here is what I think so far: classic KA, so that’s good. I love that we get little snippets of the old gang (some with kids on their hips, which melts me every time). I am loving so much of Tack! There is nothing extraordinary so far, but all around good. The prologue was the best part, so angsty and heart breaking. I wish that feel had carried forward. It’s KA, so of course there are bangles and ruffles and pet names and kids. Not on a re-read list so far, but a nice “yay it’s KA” kind of book.
And in case anyone cares, I LOVE pork rinds. I like the ones from the butcher (as long as they aren’t greasy) and I like the fluffy puffy ones too. I stopped at a rest stop somewhere is Louisiana once and they had the best pork rinds ever (all kinds of flavors). My hubby was pissed because he said the car smelled awful after I gobbled them up. He thinks they are disgusting!
“Do you like Mexican” <—— Why, yes…yes I do. 😛
LOL, I love it when Laura has no idea what kind of food/drinks we are talking about and vice versa!
Bev, I was always weird about buying them too until my hubby went shopping with me one day and found the Baken-Ets brand (his favorite) on sale and threw about 6 bags in the cart. After that it's not embarrassing anymore. 😉
YES MichelleS…the fluffy puffy ones are my favorite! 😀
Ilona Andrews Burn for Me is 1.99. Really great read. Also, if looking for new UF and not be overwhelmed by a long series. It’s the first and only out right now.
Lol, Amy intrigued by Acheron but overwhelmed by # of books.
Read Acheron! Just skip to book sixteen and read Acheron! Yes, I posted it in two posts. That’s how much Amy should read it.
Amy – Laura – I have found that almost all cultures fry some part of the pig because it just tastes freaking awesome…. so I am betting they have something in Scotland, we just don’t know what it is called. And as long as a guy is wearing a kilt, he can eat whatever he dang well pleases… I’ll just enjoy the view.
I have always wanted to read Acheron, but I, too, thought I’d be lost since I hadn’t read that series. I do not have it in me to start some super long established series!! Even though that’s where my heart is, I must have ADD now.
I’ll say what I said in the other post, Acheron can work as a standalone. It’s not full of spoilers or anything, other than you know the great Acheron mystery. Not a spoiler at all.
I started with the pre-first book, Fantasy Lover, when it came out. That book doesn’t have anything to do with the rest, other than the guy is mentioned. I didn’t touch the rest until book 7? I think, came out. Then I went nuts. So when I said you can read Acheron as a standalone, I promise. It’s true.
Ditto what Tessa said. lol I was bit longer winded in the other thread
I bet we could easily start a group chant… “Read Acheron, Read Acheron, Read Ach…”
What a list! It’s my birthday and I will one click if I want to!
Finished Sloth – it was a slow start but really good
MitchellS, just half way through. I’m liking it, but still wish the first part was longer. I was just charmed by it, and love a slow burn.
Travis, love.
“He was held high against Joker’s chest. Travis didn’t mind, and I knew this when he commenced slapping Joker on his bearded cheek then fell forward and licked black whiskers.”
Paula, Happy Birthday!!!
Also just released A New Hope by Robyn Carr. Pretty good series. And Lani Lynn Vale’s new book Bang Switch (that sounds pretty fun) comes out tomorrow. I am so happy I just got paid because I have too many new books to purchase.
Laura – Pork Rinds sound like our Pork Scratchings – yum!
Bev – thank you!
Amy – get what you mean with Sloth – it took everything I had not to go to the end to see if I was right and whether I would be happy! But I didn’t (I am rather proud of myself :0))
LOL MichelleS…you just put an image of a hot, kilt-wearing guy eating pork rinds. 😛 And ohhhhhh the accent that he would have…
Okay ladies, like I said on the other post, I’ll one-click it and start it soon!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULA!!! One-click to your heart’s content today. 😀
Lisa…only here does everyone understand how exciting pay day is ’cause it means book shopping! *giggle*
And makeup shopping. And polish shopping. *giggle*
Ok, I’m kinda lost, what other post and what book?? RL getting in the way from keeping up with comments/posts. 🙁 but I’m going on vacation tomorrow and need to make sure got some reads lined up. 😉
HAPPY Birthday Paula!! Know what you mean about Sloth, I started and stopped it at the beginning “letters; glad I picked it up again and kept going!
Fun, Cheryl!
Acheron/Covenant discussion on Amy’s reader recs. 🙂
I usually subscribe to a post I comment on, so you all continually pop up in my in box. If some one looked at the end of day they’d be all who is this Maryse, she sends a lot of emails.
Lol, sometimes feels like I’m texting with you all. The other day something in rl reminded me of something here. Almost mentioned it but then remembered my rl people do not know you ladies, lol.
Happy birthday Paula!!
But o nonononono pork scratchings no you guys really?! It’s kinda a pub snack here but I don’t like them sorry Bev!
Happy Birthday Paula!
Thank you everyone xx
Dirty Bad Wrong was good. There was one scene that I couldn’t handle, but I just skimmed it and knew it was coming. Still, sweet. I was expecting dark, but got a bdsm romance.
*eyes library books* Trying to decide if I feel rebellious with my reading still.
Thanks Bev. That’s actually a good idea to subscribe to the post.
Started reading Tyed… how could I resist that cover!!! *yum*
Happy Birthday Paula.
Bev, I’m always mentioning you ladies IRL. *you know, from the book blog* they don’t look at me strangely, really they don’t, they know bettet than to mess with my virtual BFFs.
Ha! I do the same thing…I chat with you ladies so much that I quite often see something that will bring y’all to mind no matter where I am. I met with a friend of mine for coffee last week, and while she was in the bathroom I started checking in here then started giggling and snorting (told ya, I really do that IRL). When she came back and saw me, all she said was, “Your book friends?” YUP!! 😀
I would so hang out with y’all IRL, too. 😉
I’m so late to the comment party!!!! *hrmph*
I would SO HANG OUT with y’all IRL too. I want to have a pajama party weekend, with make-up, books and junk food and all of our crazy Amy-drinks.
I’ve always thought we’d make the coolest book club. With all the giggling and drinks and food and squeees. I would totally host that. Even when we’re all reading different books…just to discuss and have fun.
Could snack on nutella & pork skins, lol. Pizza & lemon. Hot dogs & peanut butter.
Lol. I look at that list and makes me think pregnant ladies or munchies.
Don’t forget the peanuts!! 😉
Hahaha Cheryl, good one
And salami…
Definitely salami!
Cheryl you know if there are peanuts certain “someones” would start throwing them.;-)
So I guess Sloth is next on the docket: I downloaded it and OMG – those letters – I can’t even read them on my Kindle because they are considered pictures and the print will not enlarge. I am so dang blind. Can I just skip over them? How critical are they to the story? I seriously can’t read a word!! And there are SO MANY, I have to think they are important to the story!!! JEEZ – why do they do this to us? Why not just put in in print and not these dumb “letters”?????
Do you have a computer available? I know it’s not as good, but maybe read the letters on your computer and then read the rest via tablet? That way you can see it better.
Tessa – I just went to my amazon account and found the book and then checked under action, or something, and it said “start reading now” – so I did and it WORKED. I didn’t even know I could do that (read on my computer) – thought I had to download the Kindle app – but I guess not. WOW. Okay, that was cool. And I got to read the letters, which make absolutely no sense to me at all. Where would they mail them if they are such mysteries?? Oh well – I’ll just keep reading.
MicheelS, the letter part I found slow, that’s where I initially stopped reading. They are important and more about them will be explained. It will make sense eventually, I promise.
MichelleS, I had the same problem with the letters. I was squinting my eyes to try and red them! Great idea Tessa! I didn’t know I could read it on my computer either!
I think I’m gonna get Tyed… or maybe the latest Olivia Cunning book.
Im in the great book funk of 2015 right now after inhaling Sloth, King, The Ground Rules and Priest over the past few days…
Lol tryed reading those letters on my phone No Way! even with reading glasses Better on the tablet. No one mention it so I thought it was just me
Pouring rain and thunderstorms on my first day of vacation….reading Sloth….perfect day!! Lol!
Glad your power is back on Jean. What is everyone’s weather like. Here it will be around 105, dry. We need some rain forest fires.
It’s supposed to be only 84 today. We got a drop or two of wanna-be rain yesterday, when it was 96, and today prediction of thunderstorms. *blinks* It’s the oddest weather ever. California doesn’t have rain in the summer normally, and never on hot days. It’s weird.
Gah! I want to finish up Sloth but I’m volunteering at a kids event, and it just seems wrong to read graphic sex scenes with little kids running around. 😉
Oh, and for the book club I would bring Nutella and banana paninis on buttered, toasted brioche…I just came across that recipe yesterday and holy freaking YUM!!!!
first line Thursday…
“I STARED AT THE CEILING OF THE GYMNASIUM, LITTLE black splotches dancing in front of me.”
Pure by Jennifer Armentrout
It doesn’t sound like a great first line until you read the rest of the paragraph.
“I might as well be a vampire.” ~ Sloth by Ella James
*shrug* Nothin’ special there but the book sure is. 😀
Fabi…I got butterflies from your first line. 😉
Same first line for me Amy….I think I have this book figured out but hopefully not…
Jean, right?? Some things I’ve been wrong about (fortunately!) but others I have been right and then still others have been WTF moments…SO many WTF moments.
It seems to be one of those books where you can’t really say anything without spoiling it…but we all know how well Maryse will be able to review it without giving anything away!
My eyes snapped open as the freakish sixth sense kicked my fight or flight response into overdrive.
Half Blood by Jennifer Armentrout
All that talk, I really wanted to read it again.
Okay here’s mine:
“It wasn’t the most lavish-looking present under the tree.”
Madison, Holly (2015-06-23). Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny (p. 1). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
oooh, book 1 has a much better 1st line.
Amy, I’m all in for the food you’re bringing for our book club. I’ll provide the liquor, although someone else will have to do the mixing. Haha, I’m useless, I can’t cook or mix drinks.
:-O that’s what you’re reading? Is it an autobiography?
It IS an autobiography. I used to read only those… once upon a time. That’s where you get the “goods”. LOL!!!
Maryse, this should be an interesting review. Lol.
Tessa. Tessa. Tessa You have E&P!!!!
I will! And I have to read it because it’s already got two holds for it when it returns. It’s just, I’m in a paranormal mood. I gotta go with my mood or I won’t appreciate the book.
Holly Madison, huh? You’ll have to tell us. She always seemed so calculating. When it was on, I saw little bits. The other two were seemed sweet, but she just seemed cold emotionally.
First line.
“Eden crawled into the living room, the rough carpet burning her chubby knees and hands.”~Omens by Kelley Armstrong.
Has anyone read Vicious by V.E. Schwab? On sale looks interesting so one click.
Bev it was a five star for me back in March. My review
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1228560906?book_show_action=false
PS…no romance in this one
Nice review, Fabi. 🙂
I saw this list a while ago, haven’t read any but some look fun if you like super heroes.
https://www.heroesandheartbreakers.com/blogs/2015/06/up-up-and-away-superheroes-in-love
I don’t think I’ve ever read a superheroes book. Comics and movies, yes. The only sh book I’ve ever tried was a beta read and so horribly awful that I couldn’t finish it no matter how hard I tried. This list is intriguing.
Darn it, Fabi. This sent me down a buying road. I know a blog I read does super hero books occasionally. I ended up one clicking Karma by Jennifer Estep, Ivory by Lola Dodge, and Justice by Jennifer Harlow. *sigh* I was doing so well too.
Lol you stocked up
If you read Karma before I do, tell me how it is. I bough it when it was on sale, because in her Mythos series, the heroine’s favorite comic book character is the one mentioned in Karma.
That’s cool, Tessa. I don’t even remember that, I seriously have no book memory. I read up to three in Mythos and don’t remember that. I need to finish that series.
Its like in Fan girl she is a fan pic writer. Writes about characters from a Harry Potter type series. The hero and his nemesis. Rainbow Rowells next book is about them.
Oh, and Karma is still .99, why I grabbed it.
*grins* Same price I paid for it!
Aw Maryse, you’re here now so that’s all that matters!!! *pounce-hugs Maryse*
YES!! A pajama party weekend, all weekend, where I would stuff you guys with all kinds of crazy foods and desserts and snacks and make drinks in every color of the rainbow and we could give each other manis and pedis and makeup makeovers and fawn over our books and giggle over book boys!
