I officially have three lists. My TBR list. My TBR SOON list, and my I WANNA READ NOW TBR list <— that’s the urgent one!! Since my last “17 books from my TBR list” list, I’ve read a bunch (good ones!!), and shifted a new bunch in. So if I can get my “squirreling” under control (hehe… yeah right!! :P) these are the next “I wanna read its” on my TBR list (on top of my TOP 17 next TBR‘s). <— Er… does that make any sense? *giggle*
So here’s my next “WANNA READ NOW” list. While I might “stray” from it… these give me “need-to-read” butterflies in my stomach, and I intend on devouring ’em. 😉
Lovely Trigger (Tristan & Danika #3) by R.K. Lilley <— READ!!!! Book Review
What I’m reading right now, and L-O-V-I-N-G!!!! OMG Tristan makes my heart clench. He’s HUGE, muscle-y, tattoo-y, totally bad-ass-y and yet sooooooooo sweeeeeeeeet. And sad… right now. *sniff sniff* I wanna snuggle him SO bad! I’m halfway through (I’ve been marathon reading this series over the last few days), and I know I’m gonna miss these guys like crazy!
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover <—- READ!!! Book Review
Coming out on Tuesday, and I’ll be RIGHT THERE with it! New adult, hottie musician, and I’m hearing about a twist!?? Colleen Hoover = new adult angst, one of my FAVORITE authors, and I’m so excited to lose myself in this romance.
So if y’all wanna have a “read-a-long” with me, I’m starting this on release day!
Beg Tease Submit – Sequence One (Songs of Submission (Sequence One)) by C.D. Reiss <— READ!!! Book Review
I’ve had this one on my main list for months. Tooooo many months, and I’m feeling a bit chagrined that I haven’t gotten to this one sooner. Especially since one of my best reading buds (Sandra – we always seem to equally like the same books!) insisted on this wayyyy back when. She LOVED it. And suddenly, it’s making waves again amongst our Facebook crew.
Tracie says: Maryse I have to beg you and your readers to read C.d. Reiss series Songs of Submission. What that woman can do with words is magical. Her dialogue and inner thoughts are brilliant. I read all the books in the last couple of days and all I can say is huge hangover. If you want a strong heroine and a sexy, dominant, gorgeous man, this series is for you.
Our girls can’t get enough, and I’ve decided… no more waiting!!! This one’s next after Colleen’s.
Broken Pieces by Riley Hart
I loved this author’s other M/M book, and this recent release took my fellow m/m romance readers by storm. It was insisted upon, and you know what? I love m/m and am craving another awesome one of these! How can I resist after Victoria’s recommendation:
“I have to recommend Broken Pieces by Riley Hart. The best book I have read in months and one of my favorite books EVER! I’m pretty new to the M/M romance genre and I can’t believe how the author pulled off this menage. Totally amazing, this is definitely a MUST READ!”
Turn to Me (The Kathleen Turner Series #2) by Tiffany Snow <— READ!!!
After that, I plan on going back to the series that I’m enjoying (I’m halfway through this one, but I squirreled). My reading buds tell me this series will overtake, overwhelm and consume me soon. Each book builds and builds and gets better and better. In fact, I hear book #4 will put me over-the-edge, so I can’t wait to build right to that one. In fact, I think Christina and Lynn are concerned about my squirreling. 😉
Christina: “The series gets better as you read on. Don’t stop reading them!!! This is still my favourite series!!”
Lynn: “Point of No Return by Tiffany Snow will be released 20th May. This is 5th and final book in The Kathleen Turner Series… Because you are going to read all the books in the series, right? 🙂 “
LOL!!! You bet! I’m still in, you guys!!
Coming Home by Priscilla Glenn <— READ!! My Book Review
I’m hearing this one is simply THE BEST!! In fact, what sold me were the reader reactions regarding the “slow burn”. <— That is what I love. A slow burn has me falling in love along with the characters.
Kim: “Coming Home was an ABSOLUTE beautiful read with a twist I never would’ve guessed!!!! It is a MUST read in my opinion!”
Elizabeth: “Coming Home took me by surprise. Just something about her writing and characters. I was “with” them every step of the way. It’s refreshing to read a story where the smallest touch can make you *feel* more than some steamy scenes in other books. I love authors that make you work for it, you know? Great pacing and main and supporting characters too.”
How can I resist this? 😀
Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City) by Penny Reid <— READ!!!! My Book Review
I’m thinking this is gonna be my perfect rom-com (comedy romance) read, and since reading (and loving) “The Plan” I have a BIG craving for more chuckle-worthy love. This one is older, but it’s tried and true and even in it’s funny, I’m hearing it’s got it’s steam and angst.
Sabrina: “Although i didnt find it overly funny the story line was FANTASTIC! I read it so quick and went straight onto the next book in the series. These sure got me out of my reading funk.”
Amber: “I literally laughed out loud after page 2. Page one is kinda a gimmie you know, a grabber. From page 2 on, you laugh and if you’re a pushover like me you might cry. You get angry because you ARE the heroine and you want what she wants (a hot guy, a hot smart guy…and a panty party.) and you want it now!”
Sabrina: “These are the perfect mix of funny, hot, sexy, unique and add a teeny bit of angst and they are perfection!”
That sounds like everything I want in a book! MINE!!!!
Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun <— READ!! MY Book Review
Some of my most trusted fellow readers really connected deeply to this erotic story. This is not your typical romance read. Not only is she older than him, and not only is he a cop (<— in uniform —> YAY ME!!) but, they live out some pretty… umm… uncommon fantasies. I’ve read “others” in this style (and “feel”) that I have enjoyed, so to possibly have another unique read such as this, one that takes me out of my comfort zone, and shakes me up? Yes please!!!
Kim: You have got to read this one. I found it about the same time I found your bog. What I love is the confidence of the older women. We often hate our bodies but she knows what she wants unti he shows her more might be possible, in a hot alpha cop kinda way, and she might make him want more too. Sooo good,
Rebecca: I second Liberating Lacey!! Absolutely loved, and He is the sexiest Cop I’ve ever read in a book. And the Uniform and the Handcuffs do make an appearance in some of the sexiest sex scenes that I’ve ever read! Very well written too, there is a Lot of emotional depth to these characters, a lot of Angst, and I felt a very real and honest depiction of feelings.
I’m thrilled this recommendation came my way!!
Too Consumed (Consumed Series Book 2) by Skyla Madi
MMA fighter!?? HECK YAH!!!! I just realized this was a continuation of the characters in book #1, and I really connected to that one. He was super-intense and there were a couple of scenes that I will never forget. Especially the televised scene when he’s walking to the ring (UFC!!) and he stops… grabs his girl on his way down, drags her with him, to keep her safe and hands her off to one of his security guys. <— Ahhhhh wow he is just *swooooon* (here’s my review of Consumed). SO YAY ME that there’s more of Seth.
Against the Cage: Worth the Fight Series by Sidney Halston <— READ!!!!
ANOTHER MMA FIGHTER!! It’s not out yet, but by the time it’s released (in May), I think i’ll be ready for it. And I AM EXCITED. The early review readers are loving it.
Kelly: let me just say…WOW. I am in love with Jack. *Swoon*. The book was so funny (especially the beginning) but more than that had some nail biting moments and most of all…had some awesome smexy scenes. And, since I am totally into MMA right now, it was right up my ally. I love that it was adult and not YA/NA. God, I am having a boyfriend hangover right now. : (
Sara: OMG! So happy to see Against the Cage on this list. Maryse you’re going to love it. It is sooo hot yet really funny. … A cross between jill shalvis’ Lucky Harbor and JM’s beautiful disaster. I havent laughed so much in a book since Wallbanger.
Whoa!!!! That sounds like the perfect cross to me, Sara. I am ON IT!!!!
So that’s it. Sorta. 😛 Oh… I know I’m missing a ton that gave me that blurb/reader-recommedation *jolt*. Every few days, I find one (or a recommendation for one) that makes me go… OH YES THIS ONE!!! How did I forget to put this in my TBR LIST!??? *sigh* I’m a book-mess… and I LOVE it! 😉
So just consider this an “intro” into my highly anticipated reading journey. Oh… and THIS list —> 17 books from my TBR list It’s a month or two old now, and I’ve read quite a few on it, but it still stands, too.
I’m just going to say it…You need a few clones of yourself to get through this list, plus the 100 more you’re going to add in the next month 🙂
Hugs <3
You have to read Coming Home. It was an 11 cupcake read on my blog. So, so good!
I would LOVE it, Sherry… many me’s reading books at the same time, and ME-me experiencing each one, simultaneously. What a great idea!
Can’t wait till you get to Rough Canvas, I will always Love Thomas & Marcus. Such a Beautiful, Beautiful Love story…sigh
Songs of Submission are some of my favorites books this year! They are in three sequences now on Amazon and also introduce some of the characters in Spin, which was also amazing!
Lovely Trigger will go down as one of my all time favorites – I hope you are enjoying it so far! All that angst is totally worth it!
Can’t wait to check out the others – thanks for another great list, Maryse!
The Fae Chronicle series has been one of my favorites this year. I hesitated because it is a new genre for me, but I could not put this series down. I usually take a break in between books in a series. I read these straight through, and am eagerly awaiting the fourth.
Some great books there. I loved the Song of Submission series (helped with my ginga phobia. Lol) and Liberating Lacey.
I hadn’t heard of Broken Pieces, and I love a good m/m book, so just got it and plan to read it after I finish the Tristan and Danika series.
Another two amaaazing books you should add to your TBR list that my friends & I recently read and adored: Deliver by Pam Godwin and Destroyed by Pepper Winters. Both are dark and deliciously sexy. Deliver has some heart stopping twists and turns, and Destroyed is an awesome scarred hero book that’s extra dark and emotional – have tissues handy for that one.
Some great books on the list…some of the same are on mine. I am currently loving Thristan & Danika …loving it! Thank you…my TBR list was long….now I have even more….lol
Oooh, recommendations! I’m reading tjhe song of submission series slowly. I’m only on three but they are good. I just need a break between them. I’ll see about the sample Kathleen Turner. I need light and cheerful after my Divergent marathon.
Enjoy Lovely Trigger. I liked Rock Bottom the !ost, but I’m odd like that. 😛 After your two need to reads, you must read Fae Chronicles or Fallen Crest. 🙂
I really liked the consumed series by skyla madi, can’t wait for book 3!
Broken Pieces was a good read, it’s not a cliffhanger really but there will be another book about them.
I absolutely loved Bad Things, I’m being a huge chicken about reading Rock Bottom. I need to get over myself since Lovely Trigger is sitting on my kindle app too.
I wasn’t as in love with Coming Home as much as everyone else seems to be, but it was worth the read.
Lots of great reading to look forward to Maryse!
I’ve got a lot of these books on my TBR list as well 😀 I finished Neanderthal Seeks Human a couple of weeks ago and all in all I just loved it – it really hit all my rom-com needs, that’s for sure (especially after all the angst/dark reads I’ve been leaning towards lately)! There were a few parts I didn’t like but for the most part it more than served its purpose for me 😛
I LOVED Against the Cage. It was funny as hell but really sweet and sexy. I think you’ll really like it, especially since you (like me) love MMA. Loved that it didn’t leave me in a love/angst hangover. I finished…happy.
Hey Maryse, have you read R K Lilley In Flight series? I just finished Bad Things (looooove it) but with all the references to James Cavendish, I really want to read his
series now (In Flight) I just loves him in the few scenes in Bad Things.
Sandra, I read the first one, and I really liked it! James is SEXY and intense! But I lost my way in between each release, and I think I’m going to backtrack now. Especially after what I’ve seen of them in “Lovely Trigger”. 😉
Melissa and Tessa —> ABSOLUTELY the Fae Chronicles will be up soon for me (maybe even after the Songs of Submission series). Maybe even next after “Maybe Someday”?
I’m DYING to read those… it’s weird to want to read something so badly, and still hold off.
I did that with R.K. Lilley’s series, and I ended up LOVING it. I think I’m scared of the potential cliffhangers, but really, I don’t mind ’em too much. Keeps me pining for the next…
Candy now you make me wanna eat cupcakes. Chocolate with vanilla frosting, and vanilla with strawberry frosting. One of each, please. 😉
Lynne.. I know I’m gonna regret not getting to that one sooner.
I loved Songs of Submission by CD Reiss.
Jonathan, new BBF? Yes please!
I just read the first installment of her new one, Spin, on the weekend, too.
I also love the author CD Reiss’s FB group ‘SOS’. It’s fun and there’s some awesome eye candy frequently shared!!
I really want to start Danika and Tristan as I love angst/emotional reads, but I’m curious as to who you/others would compare Danika with from other lead females as I don’t won’t to invest in a trilogy if I can’t relate to the female. I hope that makes sense.
I constantly marvel at how much you’re able to read. It’s amazing and you’re my hero. 😉 I also think I need to take your lead and create multiple TBR lists! Tackling Tristan & Danika first, then some books by authors who will be at a signing I’m going to in 2 weeks, then Jeaniene Frost’s newest Night Huntress book! There are so many books to read out there!
I love when you show us a screenshot of your TBR….don’t worry Maryse, we are all “squirrels” here…haha!! I am trying to move on after Lovely Trigger….but it’s so hard! Thinking about Songs of Submission series…I’ve had that one downloaded for a while too. Oh, and just another reminder, if you want laugh out loud funny, The Bet by Rachel Van Dyken. You will love it! Have I ever steered you wrong before? Haha!
Have you read Jason Luke’s “Interview With A Master”? I could not put it down!
LisaB… to me, she was a STRONG heroine even in her very weak moments. Very jealous but, I dunno… I could relate to her. I’m outta my mind sometimes too, when it comes to love, you know? And she had plenty of reasons for her emotional issues.
I hope that helps!
Kahea… you are SO right. SO many out there. If I didn’t have responsibilities, i’d easily read a book a day. EASILY!
Nowadays, I read 3 to 4 a week… (mostly I’m thinking 3)
Jean, yep! You n’ me have VERY similar tastes. Well, I’m either DEFINITELY starting either the Fae Chronicles, or Songs of Submission once I’m done Maybe Someday, so if you wanna read with me… could be fun! 😛
Well, no surprise here… I’m still encouraging you to read Fae Chronicles. A word of advice- get to at least Chapter 2, 6-8% in. That’s when it all gets wild. And Ryder is the kind of bad only found in paranormals, being a Fae Prince. Even the most alpha bad boy can’t compete with that, which is what makes it so good. You don’t ever question how he could say or do what he does. He’s a “fu#*ing fairy”… According to our oh so feisty heroine. Can’t wait for your review. I’m betting it will remind you of the great paranormal reads you loved once. And it’s steamy. Promise you won’t put it down until you read chapter two. Then you won’t stop.
Maryse I just finished The Fixed Trilogy: Fixed on You, Found in You, Forever with You by Laurelin Paige that was on your previous book releases list. It was only 0.99 cents for the trilogy and I really enjoyed it. Hudson is a hot alpha guy who says right off the bat that he is incapable of love and combined with Alayna’s obsessive “love’ disorder, you just know a train wreck is coming.
Also, didn’t you mention a while back that you were going to read Unravel by Calia Read?
The Knitting in the City series by Penny Reid are great!! Very well written and you will fall in love with the characters, and is so funny!!!
Not too much “squirreling” I hope 😉 🙂
Just starting Lovely Trigger. Danika has got to be one of most favorite Heroines Ever. I Love her.
I have a major book hangover!! Just finished the Heller series by JD Nixon!!! When is book 7 coming out???? Anyone know!!! Great series, hilarious!!! Tristan & Danika series next!!! My tbr list is growing daily!!!
Maybe someday is amazing!! Colleen has yet to disappoint me. So different, but everything I love when reading a book. There’s an almost forbidden love aspect in it, that really pulls you in all directions. 5 stars for me and loved being able to listen along with the soundtrack. Gives it that extra something 🙂
I just read fearless by rachel van dyken. I love that series still need to read the Bet but have it. you ladies are going to be so bad for me. I had to get a paper and pen to write down some of these books I don’t know about. there used to be a day I thought I knew alot of authors but since I got my nooks and now the ipad mini I’m so adding so many new authors to the list to check out. today I bought maybe someday (I didn’t buy slammed since it’s already on the nooks and I think I need to put it on the mini yet. and I got disarm by june gray haven’t heard about that one but it looked and sounded like a good one.
Just finished and loved Coming Home!… Danny is definitely book boyfriend material. Gonna start reading Play next.
I’m looking forward to getting to read coming home I did get a copy hopefully will be able to squeeze it in soon. it looks so good. I’m loving slammed which I hope to get to read more today. I finished the gamble by kristin ashley (was told I had to read this series) loved that book now reading the second one after it sweet dream (with my online grp) started missing you by harlan coben with an another online grp. okay I have way too many books going on at the same time. am I the only one that has more than normal amt of books going on at the same time (of course as long as they aren’t too much alike) that is just me. never know what I want to read. or if I have arcs needing to read to review or grp reads.
This list is killing me. My ALL-Time favorite Book is Bullet to the Heart. I’m dying for you to get to it. So much so I made a book trailer just so it pushed you over the edge. I dont be to so unclassy to post a link to it on your blog so please please please go watch it on YouTube. You will Love this book. It has all your favorite things. An Alpha hero, kick ass heroine, angst, heartbreak, darkness and light. Promise you will have serious gooseys.
The prologue alone will destroy you. Patiently waiting to read your review.
Just read Coming Home, beautiful story loved every minute of it.
5 star read.
I agree Jennifer! I have been begging Maryse to read this book for weeks!! I absolutely loved it, even weeks after reading it!
Hint, hint Maryse…. 😉
Yes Maryse must read.
What do I read next ladies? Any recommendations?
Hi Maryse,
I’m a bit confused with “Tristan & Danika” trigoly & “up in the air” trilogy.
Are they connected? What is the right reading order?
thanks
Yes they are connected, however I read Tristan & Danika without having completed the “Up in the Air” series (I had only read book #1). But here is the reading order: https://www.maryse.net/reading-order-guide/r-k-lilley-up-in-the-air-series-reading-order.html

down and out
dont know if you’ve read this one but it was pretty good.
