It’s Theresa’s turn!!! She’s one of our fellow readers that sends me regular recommendations each week or so by email of books she’s just read and loved. And she finds us deals, too!!!
And now… she’s got her 2016 List ready!
She says:
“Yeah Maryse…I am so glad you are doing these lists again…I love hearing everyone’s favorites and getting new recs from them…this was the year of trying new authors for me…Tahereh Mafi, Darynda Jones, RL Matthewson, Sarah J Maas, Tillie Cole, JB Salsbury, KC Lynn, Gina Sorelle, Erica Stevens, and Shannon Mayer just to name a few…and I have loved every last one of them…”
Here is my list of Favorite Reads in 2016:
1.) Shatter Me (Enhanced Edition) and Unravel Me (Shatter Me Book 2) by Tahereh Mafi <— These books took me on an emotional and heart stopping journey that truly left me breathless…I devoured these books from start to finish! Beautiful writing that allows the reader to truly experience the emotions and thoughts of the characters!
2.) First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson Book 1) by Darynda Jones <— I have read the first seven books in this series and have loved each and every one…they are funny, smart, witty, and sexy as sin…Reyes Farrow is my ultimate book boyfriend this year…I have decided I want to be Charley Davidson when I grow up:D
3.) Playing For Keeps (A Neighbor From Hell Series Book 1) by RL Matthewson <— This was a sweet, lighthearted, funny, romance that I truly enjoyed as a summer read…the character interactions had me laughing out loud…great read!
4.) A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 2) / Empire of Storms (Throne Of Glass Series Book 5) by Sarah J Maas <— I devoured both of these series…Feyre and Aelin are both strong/sassy female leads that are true warriors…the world building in both of these series is extraordinary…I truly loved each series and look forward to reading more!
5.) Iced: Fever Series Book 6 by Karen Marie Moning <— This was one of my favorite in this series…I enjoyed the new perspective and the added elements it lent to the story!
6.) Sentinel: The Fifth Covenant Novel by Jennifer Armentrout <— The Covenant Series was beautiful from start to finish…the writing, the characters, the world building…this series had it all not to mention Greek Gods and Goddesses…AMAZING!
7.) The Hard Count by Ginger Scott <— I love a good star crossed love story that is so filled with heart that it pulls the reader deep into the lives of the characters…this story challenges one’s prejudices on both sides of the fence…great read!
8.) Retrieval (The Retrieval Duet Book 1) by Aly Martinez <— I am a huge fan of Aly Martinez but this book took her writing to a new level for me…in one word POWERFUL.
9.) It Ends with Us: A Novel by Colleen Hoover <— A new look at a painful topic…this book touched me on many levels and left me reeling upon it’s completion…there is nothing more beautiful than someone breaking the cycle of violence in their life…Bravo to Colleen Hoover for depicting this issue with such courage and care.
10.) A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole <— Tears, Tears, Tears…just an absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking, powerful story.
11.) Fighting Solitude (On The Ropes Book 3) by Aly Martinez <— This last book of this series was my absolute favorite…it’s realistic depiction of grief and moving forward to allow love back into one’s life was inspiring…along the way I laughed, cried, and swooned…who could ask for more?
12.) Fighting to Forget (The Fighting Series Book 3) by JB Salsbury <— This one dealt with some tough topics, but it did so with strength, honesty, and compassion…a beautiful story of moving on from the past and embracing the future.
13.) Men Of Honor Series Box Set: Men Of Honor Series by KC Lynn <— Love, Love, Love these Navy Seals…KC Lynn creates a cast of characters that are courageous, sexy, witty, and incredibly funny that they make your heart swoon!
14.) All of Me by Gina Sorelle <— This one touched my heart with it’s realistic depictions of overcoming fears and having the courage to embrace love…a truly beautiful story.
15.) Where Lightning Strikes (Bleeding Stars Book 3) by Al Jackson <— Sexy rocker and sassy bartender whose chemistry ignites the pages….being AL Jackson though she gives the story depth with her character’s struggles and pain to overcome and prevail…loved it!
16.) Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 11) by JR Ward <— My first M/M romance…these are two of my favorite characters from the series, and I was so happy to see them get their HEA.
17.) Broken (The Captive Series Prequel) by Erica Stevens <— The Captive Series was a great read, but this particular book provided insight into the villain and allowed for a new perspective to develop…Erica Stevens challenged me to see his struggles and heartache allowing me to sympathize with him and feel true compassion.
18.) Priceless (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book 1) by Shannon Mayer <— I loved this entire PNR series…Shannon Mayer creates an intriguing world that I just wanted to immerse myself…Rylee is a true warrior with that witty/sarcastic sense of humor that I just adore…fantastic series!
Okay, I am done although I am sure I can add more…I know it is more that 10 but I could not help myself…they were all great reads…thanks for letting me share…Happy Reading!
