Samantha is in the mood to FEEL… and she’s looking for suggestions! I have plenty for her (of course!! I like the hurty-ones), but maybe you guys have some great recommendations for her too?
She asks:
Samantha: I’m looking for a book that plays with my heart strings. I want it to be happy and sad. Make me cry. I just want to feel! Any recommendations?
Maryse: Have you read How to Kill a Rockstar yet?
Maryse: I also have these lists of my favorites, that I’m SURE will do exactly what you’re looking for:
- The “I’ll never forgive you for recommending this to me” hardcore angst book list
- 8 Books That Made Me Cry…
- Books That Made Us Cry – Part Two
- The Ultimate “Marmy” Book List – The best jaw-dropping, ugly-cry, super-angsty awesome reads!
Samantha: Thank you!!
Anyone else have a recommendation for her (and us). 😉

Anything by Colleen Hoover
Forbidden, by T. Suzama. Tears for sure!
And Mists of the Serengeti!
The Turning Point by Freya North.
Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur.
If you’re into HRs, Heartless by Mary Balogh. The ‘heartless’ hero’s redemption makes me cry.
Unlit Star by Lindy Zart. I rarely cry when reading a book, but this one made me 🙂
Me before you, without a doubt. *Sighs* That’s the only one that’s coming to mind right now, and I’ve read tons that made me feel everything, but that little gem is just….Everything!
Without a single doubt… Rainfall by Melissa Delport. I still feel that book and get emotional when I discuss it.
OMG Cristina YES!!!!! I’m right there with you on that one… One of my absolute FAVORITES in the world.
All VERY beautiful choices, my friends and I agree!!! 😀
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. I know this has already been recommended, but I’d like to enhance those recommendations.
Thank you for this question! Tearjerkers are my ultimate faves!! Although I think I have already read every book on Maryse’ s lists, I am going to go through and read all the comments for more suggestions! I have no idea why I love books that make me a sobbing hot mess, but I do!!
At Peace–Kristen Ashley
Just finished this a few days ago. Laughed and cried, a lot. Vi and Joe are really hanging on to me. Seriously, read it with a box of tissues near by. I love books that take me to both extremes.
I LOVED THAT ONE too, Alisa!!! I totally get you!
These are my favorite kinds of books! I’ve read almost all the ones listed.
The first book that came to my mind when I saw your post was Unbreak My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn. This book will drag you under, put a spell on you and then put you back together again! It has all the feels and marminess you’ll ever need. This is my go to reread book when I need that “feeling”.
Yes Alisa and Maryse. I cried over At Peace as well. One of KA’s best. And Joe is soooo hot! *happy sigh*
Carnage gutted me!
