I have been tagged by Erin fromΒ Lit SlaveΒ blog to make another list!! Well, kind of to explain my current “TBR list” and you know I love making lists. This is a list about my main list. π LOL!
Okay so:
How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
Ummm… I make lists? Lists upon lists. I have about 5 current TBR lists, 3 that I posted on my blog like MY “TO BE READ” LIST,Β 17 books from my TBR listΒ andΒ Next 10 books on my TBR list, and 2 that I created “collections” for on my Kindle App. And I’m successfully working my way through them. I just checked them all and WOW. I have read a bunch since I made them! But sticking to my TBR lists and ONLY my TBR lists? Β Well. You know me. I *squirrel* easy with all of these new releases, so… Β I think I need a “book-Dom” to keep me in book-line. π
Is your TBR mostly print or e-books?
Allllll ebooks. I’ve become spoiled with the ability to read with no hands, except to “flip” an ebook page. And I LOVE to be able to highlight my favorite parts, and make notes without ruining the actual book. But I do miss that decadent book smell.
A book that has been on your TBR list the longest.
Easy! The first one that comes to mind isΒ The Fault in Our StarsΒ by John Green *gasp!!!* I knowwww right?!!! I’m missing out on something AH-MAZING all because I’m ascared. Chickety chicken. *pok pok* Can’t do it. I’m dying to ’cause I hear it’s pure book magnificence, I’ve one-clicked it, I’ve stared at the cover longingly…. and I’m dying to watch the movie. But NOPE. Nope to it all… for now. π I have a few more that I’m dying to read too, but again… I fear the tearsΒ (like God Shaped Hole: A NovelΒ by Tiffany DeBartolo). Oh andΒ Bullet to the Heart (No Mercy)Β by Lea Griffith. I’m so excited for this one. And scared of it’s darkness!!!
A book youβve recently added to your TBR
Lots! But if we’re talking about this week?Β Made: A Sempre NovelΒ by J.M. Darhower (mafia romance!),Β Last Light (The Night Owl Trilogy)Β by M. Pierce (sequel to one of my favorite books!) and the “Uncaged Love” series (MMA fighters!!)
Β A Book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.
Ha!! Another easy answer because I saw this one yesterday and about fell over. Below the Belt: Worth the Fight Series.Β Just LOOOOOOOOOK at this cover. He. Is. GORGEOUS!!! All… ROAWR!!!! More MMA fighters to tickle my alpha protective bad-boy fancy, and I’ll just pretend they stay this pretty even with all of those punches to the face. π *snort*
A book on your TBR that you never planned on reading.
Hrmm… I guess… well anything on my TBR list I intend to read… they made it there because I’m either totally enamored by the blurb, or the book has come HIGHLY recommended by my trusted fellow readers, but I’d have to say…Β YearsΒ by LaVyrle Spencer. MOODY HERO ALERT!!! HIGHLY recommended by many here, including my mom and my aunt that never steer me wrong, and it’s been on my TBR list for a couple of years now and yet… I haven’t even started it. Maybe it’s because it’s a historical. Supposedly it will make me cry and give me THE most amazing book-hangover, so… really. What am I waiting for?
Β An unpublished book in your TBR that youβre excited about.
I’m always excited about ANYTHING Colleen Hoover releases. I absolutely have LOVED EVERYTHING I’ve read by her (see myΒ Colleen HooverΒ reviews here), so I’m anxiously awaiting her next releaseΒ Confess: A NovelΒ which is expected to be released on March 10th 2015. Also the next Maddox brother book by Jamie McGuireΒ (spinoff from her Beautiful Disaster Series).Β *squeeeeeee!!!!*
A book that everyoneβs read but you.
*sigh* I’m so embarrassed to admit these but here goes. I haven’t readΒ Gone Girl: A NovelΒ byΒ Gillian Flynn and, well, you already know this one, but yep… Β The Fault in Our StarsΒ by John Green, makes today’s list yet again. I swear for a book I’ve never read, it sure shows up over and over again on my blog. *snort*
A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
Over the last year, I’d have to say the most often recommended books areΒ Monster in His EyesΒ by J.M. Darhower (’cause it’s supposedly nice and dark and many come out of it in a love fog) andΒ FrenchedΒ by Melanie Harlow (I hear it’s just a plain ol’ GREAT contemporary romance novel that’s not too much of anything, but just enough of everything) andΒ Driven (The Driven Trilogy Book 1)Β by K. Bromberg (this one seems to have put EVERYONE in a romance angst frenzy…)
A book on your TBR that youβre DYING to read.
I am DYING to read Unbeloved (Undeniable Book 4)Β by Madeline Sheehan. I have NO idea why I haven’t read it yet. I just know when it was released it was Book Bash week, and I was out of reading commission. And then I squirreled and squirreled and squirreled. But this is one of my FAVORITE authors, and theΒ Undeniable SeriesΒ isΒ one of my favorite dark and gritty romance series, and THIS trio? They were the ones I was most interested in. Finally a book about them, and I get to read it!!!!
So that’s it my friends. That was the last question that I could answer…
Now… tell me what’s on your TBR list. Feel free to answer it in detail like I have above, or just give me a few tidbits, and why. π
This is so fun! And thanks to it I added another book, Years, to my tbr list. π I don’t read historical books often but every once in a while it’s a nice change and I’d never heard of this one before.
Oh and I’m with ya with TFIOS… I will never read it. I already know some of the spoilers and ugh… I just can’t go there. π But I know everyone loves it.
I love your lists! We share some of the same TBRs. Bullet To The Heart is good and I’m going to start Arrow To The Soul after I finish the new M.Pierce Last Light. But I have to say, you must read Years! It was probably one of the most underestimated books on my TBR list. Ever. I really did not expect the connection I felt with this book, but it’s really a beautiful journey. The characters are rich and complex but not in a super-angsty way. They feel real and relevant, even though the story starts in 1917 (the year my grandmother was born). Really a great book. Also, not sure if you’ve read Becoming Calder and Finding Eden but I would add it to your TBR list if you haven’t. Mia Sheridan did not disappoint.
Alright going to try and answer.
1. I still make written lists. On my ereader there is no order or labels. Sometimes I’ll make a small *stack* by pulling books to the home screen.
2. Mostly ebooks, but I always have library books laying around.
3.Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. First download.
4.Burn for Me, Resistance, Vvain, and At Your Beck and Call.
5. Vain for pretty much Maryse reason for hers. Beauty and the Mustache. It made me laugh.
6Consequences. I’ve read the first chapter but a DNF for now.
7. Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop & Who Buries the Dead by C.S. Harris. I adore both of these series and they come out on same day. Oh happy day.
8. Many. FROG, The Opportunist,& Thoughtless. Probably top three in the romance genre.
9. Most I list or download are based on recs and reviews. I have all of the EIT based on reviews from Maryse. Another series I need to start is Kate Daniels; lots of recs.
10. Fourth of July Creek, Killer Queen, & re read of War for the Oaks. Just want to give them the right time and mood. Want to give them all my attention.
Hope I listed in the right order. That was fun, thanks.
My TBR has changed for the next month. I have my first authors event, Sydney Authors Event coming up in 1 month so I am trying to read as many of those authors before I go, which is a really good way of forcing myself out of my comfort zone. I have different TBR for different occasions. Really easy reads for the times I know I will have work stress or not much reading time. I have some intense and long ones I have left for the times I might get some long child free periods, like The Bronze Horseman series.
I’m a total book wimp too, if I know something is going to pull at me, I freak out and tend to need to really psych myself up for it. I’m a bad book girl and I tend to seek out HEA spoilers these days, I just don’t cope well, esp if the H/h dies. Takes me weeks to get our of my funk, no matter how good it is.
What a list!! Wow. So, out of those that I have read…. my top pick would be Rosie Project, then Gone Girl. M. Sheehan’s was good, but not like that first book, which was a punch in the gut. It’s a good one for when an MC club mood strikes you. I haven’t read Fault in our Stars either, so that makes two of us. What about The Holy Trinity? Is that on your TBR list? We all went cuckoo over that one.
And I just saw TAKE – the follow up to Try? It was better than the first. Loved that one too. Hot and Steamy.
I did enjoy Years, but my favorite LaVyrle Spencer book is Morning Glory. Will is my ultimate book boyfriend, forever and ever <3
π
I created a TBR list in my collections folder on Kindle (it’s reaching the 500 mark). But I also have tons of lists (written and typed) which I refer to often! I only read ebooks.
Some of the books on my TBR lists the longest are the EIT series, The Bronze Horseman, Consequences series, and MANY Kristen Ashley Books that I downloaded while on sale but haven’t gotten to them yet! Oh and in haven’t read The Fault in My Stars yet either…. glad to hear I’m not the only one! On the Island is another, but just downloaded that the other day so it’s been moved up in my list! Haven’t read Gone Girl yet either and Divergent is also another one that everyone seems to have read already!
Every Rose is one I have that I will probably never read because I saw a spoiler and it killed me!
Books recently added: Unbroken, Chasing Abby, Insidious, Away, Rowdy, Underestimated, Red Hill…. Just to name a few. Lol!
I’ve had l lots of recommendations for The Bronze Horseman, On the Island and Gone Girl.
Dying to read right now? That’s a tough one….Unbroken, On the Island or Chasing Abby I guess…. (Maryse I can’t believe you haven’t read Undeniable yet….. But I just thought about it….I haven’t read Sabastian’s Storm yet and I had been dying for that one to come out… Not sure why I haven’t picked that up to read yet!)
Oh Loving My Daniels and Love in English… haven’t read them yet and highly recommended by all of you!
My TBR list? Number of unread books on my Kindle app is up to over 1700…let’s just leave it at that. π
I wrote the answers down, and ended up with an essay! *inserts essay*
1 – Is your TBR mostly print or e-books?
E books. I just don’t buy print anymore. At approximately 250 books a year, there’s no room for them on bookshelves.
2 – A book that has been on your TBR list the longest.
Undead and Unstable by MaryJanice Davidson β I love her books, but this one just is ending a mini trilogy within the Queen Betsy series and it isn’t as humorous as the others.
3 – A book youβve recently added to your TBR
Nalini Singh’s Archangel’s Shadow. It’ll be read by the end of the week.
4 – Β A Book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.
Goblin King by Shona Husk. I did read the prequel, but have yet to read the actual book.
5 – A book on your TBR that you never planned on reading.
Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane. I read the first book, and didn’t really like the hero choice, so I wasn’t interested. Then, I kept reading how good the series is, and bought book two. So, one day, maybe? Another try.
6. An unpublished book in your TBR that youβre excited about
Two of them! The Rocker Who Cherishes Me made me squeel in real life. Not joking. *grins* And First Debt by Pepper Winters. OMG, the first book was intense and wrong on so many levels, and this one is not just a novella, but it’s supposed to be about 300 pages.
7. A book that everyoneβs read but you.
A lot of them! Main ones? Archer’s Voice. No idea why, just haven’t yet. Night Owl. Because, let’s be honest, he’s kinda creepy to me. I can’t get past that. Deeper. I know. *ducks* I read over a quarter of the book, and I just can’t. It’s too boring to me. I read that they had conversations. I want to know the conversations word for word! I didn’t feel them falling in love. I need talking to like a story and there wasn’t enough for me.
8. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
Deeply. Archer’s Voice. Night Owl. π
9: A book on your TBR that youβre DYING to read.
One that’s not mentioned yet? Cause Archangel’s Shadow seems like a must read. How about the one I have yet to buy, (because I don’t want the series to end) Black Spring by Christina Henry. The series is so good, that I’m sad it’s ending. On the same boat, though I have this one, (and still haven’t read it) Jeanine Frost Up from the Grave. I don’t want to say goodbye to them either! *Sniffles*
I borrowed your format Tessa since it was so clear and easy to read π
1 β Is your TBR mostly print or e-books?
Mostly ebooks. I still borrow the occasional library book if I can’t get it in the ebook format or ‘pilfer’ from friends. There are a few books that are classics for me that I buy for my library (maybe only 5 a year).
2 β A book that has been on your TBR list the longest.
With all the recent talk, Night Owl comes to mind. Also looking at the beginning of my list: Alpha by Jasinda Wilder, Unbeloved by Madeline Sheehan, Bastian’s Storm by Shay Savage, Twisted Together by Pepper Winters, The Will by Kristen Ashley. Mudvein was up there too but I’m working on that one now.
3 β A book youβve recently added to your TBR.
I’ll give a couple: The Sweet Gum Tree, Hominids, Safe and Sound, Captive Prince, The Darkest Minds, Insidious, Beholden.
4 β A Book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.
Well I usually do not judge a book by its cover (how not original…) – anyhow Consumed by Melissa Toppen comes to mind with the yummy looking pink drink on the cover.
5 β A book on your TBR that you never planned on reading.
? I know I must have one but nothing is jumping out at me. I usually read everything eventually on my tbr and really I’m a stickler for also finishing a book…never DNF for me.
6. An unpublished book in your TBR that youβre excited about
Say it with me Bev…VISIONS IN SILVER by Anne Bishop…and if that day is not enough, Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs is coming out the same day. I may call into work and just read all day :D. Also excited about Burned by KMM, The Void by JD Horn, and the next Elise Sandburg book by Anne Frasier. Just noticed those are all paranormal which I usually have my finger on more since it’s my first love as far as book genres go.
7. A book that everyoneβs read but you.
Guess I will go with Night Owl too. Also have Nocturne on my tbr and seems a lot have read that.
8. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
Left Drowning or Under Different Stars I’ve had recommended a few times and still haven’t read them.
9: A book on your TBR that youβre DYING to read.
Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews is next for me and I can’t believe I still haven’t read it! Oh and House of Korba by CL Stone (such a fantabulous series!!) and dying to read Abduction by Varian Krylov since After hooked me on this author!
